He was buried at Catholic Cemetery, Trinidad, Las Animas Co., CO.4

Charley and Mary were enumerated in the 1910 District 0120, Trinidad Ward 2, Las Animas Co., CO, federal census. He was a proprietor of a bottling works, age 34, she was 30. Children in the household were Anna R. 5, Thomas 3, and Charley 10 months.

When Charles registered for the draft in Trinidad on September 12, 1918, he was 42 and the manager of the Trinidad Bottling Company. Wife Mary was his nearest relative. He was 5'8" of slender build and had brown eyes and black hair.

Charles and Mary Ellen were enumerated in the 1920 Trinidad, Las Animas Co., CO, federal census. He was a proprietor of a bottling works, age 44, she was 40. Charles' parents were from Ireland, as were Mary Ellen's. Children in the household were Anna Rose 14, Thomas 13, Charles Jr. 10, Katherine 9, Arthur 7, William 6, Robert 3 years 6 months, and John 7 months.

Charles died when returning from a delivery of sodas to the coal mines he drove into a washed out road. Mary Ellen died not long after and Anna Rose became the head of the household.

He died on 1 August 2021 at Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO, at age 85. He was buried on 27 August 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, Lyon Co., KS.

Frederick S. Jehle (85) of Lawrence, KS passed away peacefully in Kansas City, Missouri on August 1, 2021. Fred was born in Kansas City, KS on December 26, 1935 to Katherine and Joseph Jehle and was the middle of three children. Fred spent most of his school years in Emporia, attending Sacred Heart, Emporia High School, and later graduated from what is now Emporia State University.

In 1954, Fred enlisted in the U. S. Navy, where he spent four years. In 1960, he married his wife of 61 years, Margaret Ann Becker. They had three sons, Robert, Charles, and Jeffrey. During the span of their married life, they lived in Wichita, Hutchinson, Emporia, Topeka, and finally settled in Lawrence in the 1980’s. For many years, he worked as a bond salesman and later worked in sales for Motorola Radio. Fred was a proud veteran and had many interests including dancing, music, boating, and his favorite- fishing. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

Fred is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Robert Jehle (Lynne), Charles Jehle (Janet) both of Overland Park, KS and Jeffrey Jehle (Sandy) of St. Louis, MO. He is survived by grandchildren Charles “Chris” (Natalie) Jehle, Ryan (Sara) Jehle, Nicholas Jehle, Courtney (Adam) Bauer, Caroline Elliott, Luke Jehle, Kathryn Jehle, Tyler Jehle, and great-grandchildren McKenzie Jehle, Ray Bauer, Charles Jehle III, Penelope Jehle, Jason Jehle and Cole Bauer. Fred is also survived by his two sisters, Betty Heath of Topeka, KS and Donna Cline of Pensacola, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Fay, his step-father, Arthur Fay, step-brother Richard Fay and step-sister Phyllis (Fay) Armstrong.

A memorial service and burial is scheduled for Friday August 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, Kansas. There will be a lunch following the ceremony and burial, also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.

He married Hattie F. Ernstnathe on 29 November 1929 at The City of St. Louis, The City of St. Louis, MO. Francis Xavier Becker died on 23 April 1991 at Emporia, Lyon Co., KS, at age 83. He was buried on 25 April 1991 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Emporia, Lyon Co., KS.1

A mass of Christian burial for Frank X. Becker, 83, Emporia, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, with the Rev. Fridolin Voegle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Becker died Tuesday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on July 3, 1907, in Brilon, Germany.

He was the founder of the Becker Corp. in Emporia. Mr. Becker was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He married Hattie Nathe on Nov. 25, 1929, in St. Louis. She survives at the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Frank J., El Dorado, and Robert H., Wichita; two daughters, Betty L. Timmerman, Albuquerque, N.M., and Margaret A. Jehle, Lawrence; two brothers, Al, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Robert, Brilon; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Assn., in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State St., Emporia, 66801.

Friends may call until 10 p.m. today, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday, at the funeral home. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Frank Joe Becker, age 82, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at home in Lawrence, KS. Frank was born January 23, 1936 near Olpe, KS, the son of Frank X. and Hattie F. (Nathe) Becker. He married Barbara Ann Brinkman on June 4, 1960 in Olpe, KS. She survives of the home.

Survivors also include his daughters, Paula Trent (Tempe, AZ), Connie Grismer (Chandler, AZ), Ann Logan and husband, Liam (Denver, CO); and his son, Frank X Becker II and wife, Kelly (Steamboat Springs, CO). Surviving grandchildren include Courtney, Carly and Caroline Trent; Parker Grismer; Katie, Conor and Sean Logan; and Frank J. II, Jack, Anna, Audrey, and Brynn Becker. Surviving sisters include Betty Timmerman (Albuquerque, NM), Marge Jehle and husband, Fred (Lawrence), and sister-in-law, Jennie Becker (Wichita). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Becker.

Funeral services for Frank will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 3 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. Reception to follow in the fellowship hall with inurnment to follow at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with a visitation to follow until 4 p.m.

Frank graduated in 1958 from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Over the years after graduation, he served the University as a Board Member and Chairman of the Greater University Fund; Board Member and President of the Kansas University Alumni Association; Trustee, Chair of Finance Committee and Chairman of the Kansas University Endowment Association; Chairman of the Chancellor Search Committee in 1994; and Member and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the School of Engineering. Awards received from the University were the Fred Ellsworth Award in 1988; the Distinguished Engineering Service Award in 1991; and the Distinguished Service Citation in 1996.

In addition to his service to the University, Frank also served St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center at KU by providing leadership, advocacy and support from the beginning. First became involved by supporting the campaign to build the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in the early 80s. He served as a Campaign Trustee for Campaign St. Lawrence. Frank served as an advisor and mentor to build the development program to engage alumni, parents and friends of St. Lawrence helping the Catholic faith to have a strong presence at his alma mater. He was instrumental in founding and establishing the St. Lawrence Center Foundation and served as its President for the first six years. Frank provided insight and guidance in developing investment policies and guidelines, and Catholic socially responsible investing that maximized return to benefit the Center. His approach was used as a template for the Lawrence Catholic Schools Foundation which eventually became the Corpus Christi Education Endowment.

Frank’s work career was as owner, CEO, President and Chairman of Becker Corporation and the First National Bank & Trust Co., of El Dorado, KS. His later investments were under Becker Investments, Inc. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Westar Energy, Inc., Topeka, KS, OTR Express, Olathe, KS, KG&E, Wichita, KS, Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Co. of KS, Bank IV Butler County, N.A. El Dorado, KS, Douglas County Bank, Lawrence, KS, IMA Insurance, Wichita and Eby Construction, Wichita.

Business relationships include President and Board Member, Kansas Motor Carriers Association; Alternate State President and Director for American Trucking Association; Board Member, National Tank Truck Carriers, Inc; Board Member and President of the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce; Board Member of the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce; and Board Member, President, Chairman of Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Frank also served as Commanding General of the Kansas Cavalry, Member and Chairman of the Kansas Board of Regents, State of Kansas, Board Member and Co-Chairman of Kansas, Inc, Member and Chairman of the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Board Member and President of Butler County Community College Endowment and Board of Trustees of Susan B Allen Memorial Hospital, El Dorado, KS.

Frank was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a founding member of their Knights of Columbus. Frank served the Catholic Community as a member of the Finance Team of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, Chair of the Futures Team of Corpus Christi, Founding Chair of the Corpus Christi Education Endowment and as Leadership for two Capital Campaigns. He was a recipient with his wife of the 2014 Dorothy Flannery Honor for their stewardship and guidance with Corpus Christi School.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to Kansas University Endowment Association for the Frank J. Becker Scholarship Fund, Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association or Corpus Christi Catholic Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
