COWLES. Bertram H. Cowles, 74, of 27 Foxbrook Rd., East Hartland, formerly of East Granby, husband of the late Lucy (Sanford) Cowles, died Monday (Oct. 16, 1995) at MeadowBrook of Granby. Born in East Granby, son of the late Walter and Minnie (Holcomb) Cowles, he had lived in East Granby for 50 years, moving to Arizona, and returning to East Hartland two years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Retiring in 1986, he was employed for 36 years as an equipment operator at Roncari Industries, East Granby. He leaves two sons, Richard Cowles of East Hartland, and Leonard Cowles of East Granby; two sisters, Lorna Farley of Granby, and Shirley Cowles of West Hartford; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Gary Cowles. Funeral services will be Saturday, 4 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, with the Rev. Dr. Peter Meister officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. His family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, prior to the service, 3-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McLean Community and Home Care Services, 75 Great Pond Rd., Simsbury 06070.
