     Sarah Hayden was born on 19 January 1810. She was the daughter of Col. Nathaniel Hayden and Sally Ransom.

     Almira Hayden was born on 17 September 1812 at Hartland, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Col. Nathaniel Hayden and Sally Ransom.

     Emily Hayden was born in May 1815 at Hartland, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Col. Nathaniel Hayden and Sally Ransom.

     Harriet was the daughter of Rev. Pierson, a Free Will Baptist; she was well educated, and was a popular preacher and lecturer. Addison Hayden was born in December 1817 at West Hartland, CT. He was the son of Col. Nathaniel Hayden and Sally Ransom.

     Sylvia Jencks was born on 11 March 1785 at West Wrentham, Norfolk Co., MA. She was the daughter of Joel Jenks and Lucy Holbrook. Sylvia Jencks married Seth Hayden, son of Augustin Hayden and Cynthea Filer. Sylvia Jencks died on 7 October 1859 at age 74.

     Cicero Holbrook Hayden was born on 11 October 1807. He was the son of Seth Hayden and Sylvia Jencks. Cicero Holbrook Hayden died on 7 November 1807.

     Louisa C. Hayden was born on 8 August 1808. She was the daughter of Seth Hayden and Sylvia Jencks.

     Cornelia Hayden was born on 19 May 1812 at VT. She was the daughter of Seth Hayden and Sylvia Jencks. Cornelia Hayden married Alexander P. Allen. Cornelia Hayden died on 31 March 1880 at Valmont, CO, at age 67.

A. P. and Cornelia moved to Wisconsin around 1840-50, and he became a distinguished Methodist minister in Wisconsin. In 1860 A. P. and Cornelia moved to Colorado.


A.P. and C.M. were enumerated in the 1850 Jefferson, Jefferson Co., WI federal census. He was a Methodist Episcopal Clergyman age 35, she was 37. They were enumerated in the household of H(?). W. E. Allen a farmer age 45, born in CT. Children in the household were Gay 14, Henly 11, Ophelia 7, and Cornelia 4. Enumerated next door was Cornelia's brother C.W. age 29 and their mother Sylvia 66, and brother John A. 35.


Alexander P. and Cornelia were enumerated in the 1870 Valmont, Boulder Valley District, Boulder Co., CO, federal census. He was a Justice of the Peace, age 53, she was 57. There were no children in the household.

     Alexander P. Allen was also known as A. P. Allen. He was born on 2 May 1816 at Auburn, Cayuga Co., NY. He married Cornelia Hayden, daughter of Seth Hayden and Sylvia Jencks. Alexander P. Allen died on 12 April 1880 at Valmont, CO, at age 63.

     James Joel Hayden was born on 15 February 1815. He was the son of Seth Hayden and Sylvia Jencks. James Joel Hayden died in 1856 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.

     John Augustin Hayden was born circa 1817.¹ He was the son of Seth Hayden and Sylvia Jencks.

     Gay Hayden was born on 9 April 1819 at Jefferson, Jefferson Co., WI. He was the son of Seth Hayden and Sylvia Jencks.

Gay moved to Oregon in 1850 but the record shows that Mary and Marion were born in WI in 1851. Perhaps Jane returned home for the birth or perhaps she waited till after the births to follow Gay. Mary and Marion are given the same birth days, but not indicated as twins.

     Sophia Squires was born say 1790. She married Cicero Hayden, son of Augustin Hayden and Cynthea Filer, on 11 August 1809. Sophia Squires died on 7 April 1885.

     Tullius remained in Torringford, continued the business of his father, farming and brick-making, successfully. Jabez Hayden. Tullius Cicero Hayden was born on 20 August 1811. He was the son of Cicero Hayden and Sophia Squires.

     Sophia Cornelis Hayden was born on 29 September 1814. She was the daughter of Cicero Hayden and Sophia Squires.

     Ann Amelia Hayden was born on 21 October 1816. She was the daughter of Cicero Hayden and Sophia Squires.

     William Henry Hayden was born on 5 March 1819. He was the son of Cicero Hayden and Sophia Squires. William Henry Hayden died in March 1888.

     Charlotte Augusta Hayden was born on 1 July 1824. She was the daughter of Cicero Hayden and Sophia Squires.

     Harriet Calista Hayden was born on 21 August 1828.¹ She was the daughter of Cicero Hayden and Sophia Squires.¹

     Caroline Helen Hayden was born on 10 October 1831. She was the daughter of Cicero Hayden and Sophia Squires.

     Elizabeth Williams was the daughter of Hon. Thomas Chandler Williams. Elizabeth Williams married Moses Hayden, son of Dr. Moses Hayden and Triphena French, on 8 August 1809. Elizabeth Williams died on 2 January 1825.

     Samuel Hayden was born on 4 May 1805 at Winsted, Litchfield Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Seth Hayden and Huldah Soper.¹ Samuel Hayden died circa 1842 at New Harmony, Posey Co., IN.¹

"When eighteen years old he was brought apparently to death's door with consumption, but rallied and lived a consumptive invalid eighteen or twenty years more. A few years before his death he tried first a residence in Florida, then in Northern Alabama, but without any material benefit to his health. Afterwards he tried tent life for one summer, as one of Prof. Owen's company, in making geological explorations in the lead regions of Wisconsin, and finally settled in New Harmony, Ind., married, had two children, and died there." ---Collin M.
