     Sophia Jane Penhallow was born in September 1812 at CT.¹ She married John Topping, son of Dr. Josiah Topping and Mehitablel Hayes.¹ Sophia Jane Penhallow died on 18 September 1900 at Lima, Allen Co., OH.¹

     Frances A. Topping was born in February 1849. She was the daughter of John Topping and Sophia Jane Penhallow. Frances A. Topping married James Kirkpatrick McMonies on 25 January 1882 at Sandusky Co., OH.¹

     James Kirkpatrick McMonies was born in December 1842 at Scotland.² He married Frances A. Topping, daughter of John Topping and Sophia Jane Penhallow, on 25 January 1882 at Sandusky Co., OH.² James Kirkpatrick McMonies died between 1900 and 1910.²

     Susannah Pate Tinsley was the daughter of Nathaniel Tinsley and (?) Pate. Susannah Pate Tinsley married Dickie Chappell, son of William Chappell and Elizabeth Dickey.¹ Susannah Pate Tinsley died on 6 December 1856.¹

     Sarah Chappell was born on 16 April 1831.¹ She was the daughter of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley. Sarah Chappell married Benjamin C. Sedberry, son of James Merritt Sedberry and Nancy Terrell Rush, on 25 September 1851 at Maury Co., TN.²

Sarah's firs husband, Ben, had five daughters when he entered the army fo the Confederate States. He was killed in the battle of Thompsons Station, at the time Bedford Forest captured General Shafter. He was in the Cavalry service, but his command had dismounted and were charging a battery of the enemy when he fell. His comrades say he was some ten paces ahead of his command when he fell.²

     Benjamin C. Sedberry was born circa 1825 at TN.¹ He was the son of James Merritt Sedberry and Nancy Terrell Rush.¹ Benjamin C. Sedberry married Sarah Chappell, daughter of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley, on 25 September 1851 at Maury Co., TN.¹ Benjamin C. Sedberry died on 5 March 1863 at Thompsons Station, Williamson Co., TN.¹

     Dickie Tinsley Chappell was born on 12 February 1836.¹ He was the son of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley.¹ Dickie Tinsley Chappell married Sarah E. Cartwright on 19 February 1856.¹ Dickie Tinsley Chappell died after 1895.¹

Dickie was a large man, of florid complexion, and is of a pleasant and jovial disposition. He had an intelligent and well educated mindd, ans was a fine specimen of the old time Southern gentleman. He formally lived in Columbia, Tenn., but removed to Kansas City, MO, in 1886, where he still resided in 1895 with his childlren.²

     Sarah E. Cartwright was born on 6 February 1836.¹ She married Dickie Tinsley Chappell, son of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley, on 19 February 1856.¹ Sarah E. Cartwright died on 9 December 1893 at Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO, at age 57.¹

     Fanny Elizabeth Chappell was the daughter of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley.¹ Fanny Elizabeth Chappell died on 4 February 1880.¹

     Louise Chappell was the daughter of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley.¹ Louise Chappell died in 1845.

     Susannah Dickie Chappell was born on 17 May 1825.¹ She was the daughter of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley.¹ Susannah Dickie Chappell died on 30 April 1892 at age 66.¹

     Jennie Chappell was born on 27 October 1827.¹ She was the daughter of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley.¹ Jennie Chappell died on 10 April 1846 at age 18.¹

     Parthena Chappell was born on 8 July 1815 at VA.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Chappell Junior and Sarah L. Palmer.¹

     Sarah P. Chappell was born on 16 November 1835.¹ She was the daughter of William Chappell Junior and Sarah L. Palmer.¹ Sarah P. Chappell died after 1895.¹

     Newton P. Chappell was born on 31 July 1841.¹ He was the son of William Chappell Junior and Sarah L. Palmer.¹

     Elizabeth Whitaker married William Brown Chappell, son of William Chappell Junior and Sarah L. Palmer.¹ Elizabeth Whitaker died in 1868.¹

     Ashley C. Chappell was born in August 1879 at TN.^2,3 He was the son of William Brown Chappell and Mary Z. Gillham.¹

     Sarah Dickey was born in 1760.¹ She was the daughter of John Dickie.¹ Sarah Dickey married John Chappell, son of John Chappell and Prudence (?), on 15 March 1781 at Halifax Co., VA.² Sarah Dickey died in 1790 at Halifax Co., VA.¹

     John Chappell was born in 1752 at Amelia Co., VA.¹ He was the son of John Chappell and Prudence (?)¹ John Chappell married Sarah Dickey, daughter of John Dickie, on 15 March 1781 at Halifax Co., VA.² John Chappell died on 17 July 1812.³

     Frances Amelia Graham was born in 1824 at OH.¹ She married George Hayes Topping, son of Dr. Josiah Topping and Mehitablel Hayes, on 19 October 1843 at Richland Co., OH.¹ Frances Amelia Graham died in 1863 at Ashland, Ashland Co., OH.¹ She was buried at Ashland City Cemetery, Ashland, Ashland Co., OH.¹

     Isabella Farr was born in January 1818 at NY.¹ She married George Hayes Topping, son of Dr. Josiah Topping and Mehitablel Hayes, on 15 September 1864 at Ashland Co., OH.¹ Isabella Farr died on 20 October 1901 at Ashland, Ashland Co., OH, at age 83.¹

     Dr. George Graham Topping was born in 1844 at Ashland, Ashland Co., OH.¹ He was the son of George Hayes Topping and Frances Amelia Graham.¹ Dr. George Graham Topping died in August 1923 at Denver, Denver Co., CO; single.¹

George enlisted in the 102nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company K, but resigned after four months on a surgeon's certificate of disability.²

     James Merritt Sedberry was born on 6 February 1787 at VA.¹ He married Nancy Terrell Rush in January 1818 at Troy, Montgomery Co., NC.¹ James Merritt Sedberry died in 1859 at McLennan Co., TX.¹

     Nancy Terrell Rush was born on 12 February 1797 at NC.¹ She married James Merritt Sedberry in January 1818 at Troy, Montgomery Co., NC.¹ Nancy Terrell Rush died on 15 February 1876 at McLennan Co., TX, at age 79.¹

     Susan T. Sedberry was born in 1852.¹ She was the daughter of Benjamin C. Sedberry and Sarah Chappell.¹ Susan T. Sedberry died in 1901 at McLennan Co., TX.¹ She was buried at Bosqueville, McLennan Co., TX.

     Nannie Sedberry was born circa 1854.¹ She was the daughter of Benjamin C. Sedberry and Sarah Chappell.¹

     Lucy Sedberry was born circa 1856.¹ She was the daughter of Benjamin C. Sedberry and Sarah Chappell.¹

     Alice Sedberry was born circa 1858.¹ She was the daughter of Benjamin C. Sedberry and Sarah Chappell.¹

     Bettie G. Sedberry was born on 28 December 1861 at TN.¹ She was the daughter of Benjamin C. Sedberry and Sarah Chappell.¹ Bettie G. Sedberry died on 8 February 1921 at Waco, McLennan Co., TX, at age 59.¹

     Addie LaVerne Fisher also went by the name of Vernie Fisher. She was born on 25 June 1870 at Springboro, Crawford Co., PA.¹ She was the daughter of Adrian Alembert Fisher and Susan Ellen West. Addie LaVerne Fisher married Arthur Ward Holcombe, son of Horace W. Holcombe and Eliza Young, on 11 March 1889 at Jefferson, Ashtabula Co., OH.¹ Addie LaVerne Fisher and Arthur Ward Holcombe were divorced before 1910.¹ Addie LaVerne Fisher died on 3 June 1917 at Edgewood, OH, at age 46.¹

     Walter Ward Holcombe also went by the name of Ward Holcombe.¹ He was born on 18 May 1891 at Ashtabula, Ashtabula Co., OH.² He was the son of Arthur Ward Holcombe and Addie LaVerne Fisher. Walter Ward Holcombe married Ida Larson on 14 July 1914.¹ Walter Ward Holcombe died in July 1966 at Perrysburg, Wood Co., OH, at age 75.³

Ward served in the US Navy from 1908 to 1912; he worked for the railroads for many years. They had several Ohio residences, particularly Columbus, before finally settling in the toledo suburb of Perrysburg. After Ida's death Ward lived with daughter Helen's family until his death.¹
