     Minerva Holcombe was born between 1830 and 1835 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Stephen Holcombe and Missouri Bowen.¹ Minerva Holcombe married James Spacht.¹

     James Spacht was born circa 1826.¹ He married Minerva Holcombe, daughter of Stephen Holcombe and Missouri Bowen.¹

     Joel Bowen Holcombe was born on 2 December 1837 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Stephen Holcombe and Missouri Bowen.¹ Joel Bowen Holcombe died on 2 October 1900 at Crowley Co., CO, at age 62.¹

     Charles Whipple Matthews was born on 7 December 1803 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Phineas Matthews and Mary Russell.¹ Charles Whipple Matthews married Taphena Holcombe, daughter of General Samuel Robert Holcombe and Sarah Ewing, on 28 July 1831.¹ Charles Whipple Matthews died on 1 November 1889 at Gallia Co., OH, at age 85.¹ He was buried at Bing II Cemetery, Gallia Co., OH.¹

     Phineas Matthews was born on 27 July 1770 at Braintree, Norfolk Co., MA.² He married Mary Russell on 13 January 1803.² Phineas Matthews died on 2 April 1854 at Cheshire Twp., Gallia Co., OH, at age 83.²

Phineas was the son of Sgt. Aaron Matthews, born Mar. 5, 1743, and Mary Hubbard. Aaron was a Revolutionary Minute Man who died Sept. 13, 1778 in New Braintree, MA. Aaron was the son of Daniel Matthews, born Mar. 16, 1697 in Marlboro, MA, and Eunice Morse of Braintree, MA. They married Nov. 25, 1724. Daniel was the son of John Matthews (physician), born 1659, and Mary Johnson, born Sept. 9, 1664. They married in 1686 and she died June 22, 1710--his date of death is unknown. John was the son of John Matthews, the 1st Matthews ancestor in America. He emigrated from England to the MA Colony, but I have no date or place of birth in England. He was married to Margaret Hunt of Charlestown, MA there Dec. 7, 1658 by Richard Russel, Esquire, the Royal Commissioner fot the Colony. John died April 28, 1659. ²

     Mary Russell was born on 4 August 1783.¹ She married Phineas Matthews on 13 January 1803.¹ Mary Russell died on 4 June 1815 at Gallia Co., OH, at age 31.¹

     Elijah P. Holcombe was born circa March 1850. He was the son of Samuel R. Holcombe and Polly Calhoon. Elijah P. Holcombe died on 19 September 1850. He was buried at Brush Cemetery, Huntington Twp., Gallia Co., OH.

     Laura Ann Matthews was born on 14 June 1832 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Whipple Matthews and Taphena Holcombe.¹ Laura Ann Matthews died on 17 March 1856 at Gallia Co., OH, at age 23.¹ She was buried at Bing II Cemetery, Gallia Co., OH.¹

     Calphurnia Matthews was born on 9 August 1842 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Whipple Matthews and Taphena Holcombe.¹ Calphurnia Matthews died on 29 September 1852 at Gallia Co., OH, at age 10.¹ She was buried at Bing II Cemetery, Gallia Co., OH.¹

     Moses Russell Matthews was born on 26 January 1845 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Charles Whipple Matthews and Taphena Holcombe.¹ Moses Russell Matthews died on 28 March 1928 at Cook Co., IL, at age 83.¹

     John Ewing Holcomb Matthews was born on 28 May 1847.¹ He was the son of Charles Whipple Matthews and Taphena Holcombe.¹ John Ewing Holcomb Matthews died on 12 April 1850 at age 2.¹

     Mary Ann Matthews died at Osceola Co., FL.¹ She was born in February 1850 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Whipple Matthews and Taphena Holcombe.¹ Mary Ann Matthews married William Mapes on 2 November 1882 at Gallia Co., OH.¹

     William Mapes was born in March 1850 at OH.¹ He married Mary Ann Matthews, daughter of Charles Whipple Matthews and Taphena Holcombe, on 2 November 1882 at Gallia Co., OH.¹

     Charles E. Matthews was born on 3 June 1852 at Gallia Co., OH. He was the son of Charles Whipple Matthews and Taphena Holcombe. Charles E. Matthews died on 13 December 1902 at Gallia Co., OH, at age 50.

     Betsey B. Chase was born circa 1824. She married Henry Holcombe, son of Roger Hiel Holcombe and Sophia Loomis, on 18 July 1844 at Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. Betsey B. Chase died on 20 August 1852.
