Wilbur Cameron Caswell was born on 14 August 1916 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.1 He was the son of Walter Emery Caswell and Anne Sophia Cameron. Wilbur Cameron Caswell married Ada Chase Holcombe, daughter of John Marshall Holcombe Jr. and Marguerite Chase, on 20 September 1947 at First Congregational Church, Farmington, Hartford Co., CT. Wilbur Cameron Caswell died on 19 July 2000 at San Carlos, San Mateo Co., CA, at age 83.1 He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven, New Haven Co., CT.2

CASWELL-W. Cameron. Died July 18, 2000 following a stroke which occurred Friday evening July 14. A resident of Darien, Ct. and Sea Island, Ga., he was an early partner at McKinsey & Co, subsequently joining Dover Corp as SVP of corporate development for 17 years, and concluded his career as the SVP of North American Acquisitions at Axel Johnson Group. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Finance for the Town of Darien. Caswell was a member of The Yale Club of New York City, Wee Burn Country Club of Darien, Sea Island Club of Ga, the Congregational Church of Darien and of Canaan Valley, Ct. and of the St. Simons Presbyterian Church of Sea Island. A resident of Darien since 1953, he was born August 14, 1916 in Boston. Raised in Brockton, Ma., Caswell graduated from New Hampton School and Yale University, Class of 1939, for which he served as Class Secretary for most of the 20th century. Following Yale, Caswell joined the 101st Cavalary as WWII began in what was this Country's last equine brigade. Following the War he remained active with the the 101st and served as an officer of New York's Squadron A. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, AdaChase Holcombe, originally of Farmington and Hartford, Ct., his four sons, W. Cameron Caswell, Jr. of San Carlos, Ca., John Marshall Holcombe Caswell of Salisbury, Md, Chase Caswell of Banner Elk, NC, and George Calvin Caswell II of New Haven, Ct, and five grandchildren. The Reverand Emily Holcombe will conduct a private service at the Caswell's Darien home on July 20. The family requests that memoriams be sent to the Post 53 Emergency Service of Darien.
