Diodorus Holcombe married Sylvia Loveland, daughter of Amos Loveland and Annie Phinney, in 1814. Diodorus Holcombe died on 25 September 1859 at Westport, Essex Co., NY, at age 79.
Diodorus, a physician, served as paymaster of Lt. Col. Daniel Wright's Regt., Mar 22, 1809 and served there as Surgeon's mate 37th NY Inf Regt, Mar 2, 1814; promoted there to Surgeon 9th NY Inf Regt, Feb 17, 1820.

Dr. Holcomb was born in Granby, Conn., February 2nd, 1780; commenced the practice of medicine in Westport in Nov. 188; received a license from the Essex County Medical Society, May 9, 1809; and continued the practice of his profession in Westport up to within three weeks of his death, more than 50 years.
Dr. Holcomb was one of our most respectable and worthy citizens; having a large circle of friends and no enemies; and was a good neighbor, kind man, and an affectionate father. A large concourse of relatives and friends attended the funeral, and rendered the last sad offices to the remains of this excellent old man.
He has gone to his heavenly rest.

Truman Holcombe was born on 29 November 1789 at Panton, Addison Co., VT. He was the son of Jedediah Holcombe II and Lydia Hosington. Truman Holcombe married Phebe Pike, daughter of Moses Pike and Lucy Stickney, on 23 November 1820.2 Truman Holcombe died on 26 October 1872 at age 82.2
Truman was claimed as an ancestor in some DAR applications. Unfortunately, early applications were not well sourced and are notoriously inaccurate. This Truman's birth record is recorded in the Vermont Vital Records and is viewable on familysearch.org.
It is only conjecture that the Truman of Loraine County, OH, is the same Truman, son of Jedediah and Lydia; but for the sake of argumetn is placed here.
Truman and his family came to Camden in 1835 and lived on the five acre tract of John Watkins on the east side of the road. He and his wife joned the Pike heirs in a deed to Samuel Pike for the south part of the Watkins farm in 1839. He was a soldier in the War of 1812.2
