     Zilpah Alderman was born in 1794.¹ She was the daughter of Timothy Alderman and Tabitha Phelps.¹ Zilpah Alderman died circa 1862.¹

     Col. David Goodrich was born on 4 May 1667. He was the son of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin. Col. David Goodrich married Hannah Wright on 7 March 1689. Col. David Goodrich died on 23 June 1755 at age 88.

     Thaddeus Hayes was born on 23 January 1771.² He was the son of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.² Thaddeus Hayes married Eunice Higley, daughter of Lt. Asa Higley and Eunice Colton, on 5 February 1801 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^3,4 Thaddeus Hayes died on 4 July 1854 at age 83.⁴ He was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³

Thaddeus was a farmer at Salmonbrook where he served as deacon 1811-27. He was blind after 1851.

     Alpheus Hayes was born on 3 April 1773. He was the son of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.² Alpheus Hayes married Betsey Higley, daughter of Ozias Higley and Martha Gillette, at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Alpheus Hayes married Sarah Higley, daughter of Simeon Higley and Margaret Phelps, in 1809 at Cannan, CT. Alpheus Hayes died on 25 November 1828 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 55. Alpheus was a clothier, legislator. Betsey Higley was 1st cousin of Alpheus' brother's wife, Eunice Higley.

     Alice Hayes was born on 28 December 1778. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.¹ Alice Hayes died in September 1803 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 24.²

     Patty Hayes was born on 25 October 1784. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.¹ Patty Hayes married Charles Cadwell.² Patty Hayes died on 8 November 1866 at Fulton, NY, at age 82.³

     Elizur Hayes was born on 13 May 1787. He was the son of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.¹ Elizur Hayes married Sarah A. Pratt on 4 October 1809 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.² Elizur Hayes died on 16 April 1869 at Bridgewater, Oneida Co., NY, at age 81.²

     Rosanna Hayes was born on 2 November 1790. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.¹ Rosanna Hayes died on 30 March 1791.

     Flora Hayes was born on 8 September 1794. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.¹ Flora Hayes married Elam Kendall circa 1812.² Flora Hayes died on 17 June 1830 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 35.²

     Sheldon Hayes died young. He was born on 17 February 1797. He was the son of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.¹

     Benjamin Sheldon Hayes was also known as Sheldon Benjamin Hayes.¹

Sheldon moved to Pennsylvania in 1831 and in 1836 to Washington, PA. He was Special P.O. Agent and proprietor of a stage coach line and joined his nephew, Charles Hayes, in founding a carriage factory. ²

Sheldon B. and Maria were enumerated in the 1850 Washington, Washington Co., PA, federal census. He was a carriage manufacturer, age 46, she was 46. The only child in the household was Marshall, 23.

S.B. and Mariah were enumerated in the 1860 Washington, Washington Co., PA, federal census. He was a coach manufacturer, age 55, she was 55. There was no one else in the household. Marashall was enumerated nearby.

S.B. and Maria were enumerated in the 1870 Canton, Washington Co., PA, federal census. He was a carriage manufacturer, age 66, she was 67. Also in the household was the family of son Marshall, a farmer, age 43. His wife Sara was 38 and children were Maranda 17, S.B. 15, Virgil 13, and George L. 7. He was born on 14 January 1804. He was the son of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes.³ Benjamin Sheldon Hayes married Maria Hillyer, daughter of Dr. Horace Melancton Hillyer and Anna Holcombe, on 17 May 1826 at First Congregational Church, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Benjamin Sheldon Hayes died on 31 August 1879 at Washington, Washington Co., PA, at age 75.⁴

     Eunice Higley was born on 24 September 1777 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Lt. Asa Higley and Eunice Colton.¹ Eunice Higley married Thaddeus Hayes, son of Benjamin Hayes and Rosanna Hayes, on 5 February 1801 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2 Eunice Higley died on 15 July 1863 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 85.¹ She was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Thaddeus Flavel Hayes was born on 10 March 1802 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.² He was the son of Thaddeus Hayes and Eunice Higley.² Thaddeus Flavel Hayes married Sophia Wilcox, daughter of Sterling Wilcox and Sophia Denslow, on 5 April 1827 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³ Thaddeus Flavel Hayes died on 12 August 1882 at Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., IA, at age 80.

Thaddeus was a farmer in Granby and lived late in life with his son, Scott, at Summit or River Point, Steele Co., Minn.

     Sophia Wilcox was born on 26 March 1809 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Sterling Wilcox and Sophia Denslow. Sophia Wilcox married Thaddeus Flavel Hayes, son of Thaddeus Hayes and Eunice Higley, on 5 April 1827 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.² Sophia Wilcox died on 19 July 1858 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 49.

     Alice studied at the Female Seminary, Wilbraham, Mass; taught in Nova Scotia, Ala. and Miss. She was an author; they had no children. Alice Hayes was born on 22 December 1827 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox. Alice Hayes married George Frederick Mellen on 12 December 1850. Alice Hayes died on 26 October 1877 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 49.

     Scott was a farmer and blacksmith, Chicopee, Mass. He moved before 1881 to Summit, Cteele Co., Minn. Scott Hayes was born on 15 October 1829 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox. Scott Hayes married Elvira Elder, daughter of Levi Elder and Desire Cudworth, on 3 September 1863 at Chicopee, MA. Scott Hayes died in 1912.²

     Benjamin Denslow Hayes was born on 20 February 1833 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox. Benjamin Denslow Hayes married Caroline Elizabeth Cooley, daughter of Thomas Cooley and Anna Kennedy, on 18 May 1855 at Blackberry, IL.

Benjamin moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where he was a carpenter and carriage maker.

     Condit Hayes was born on 28 September 1838 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox. Condit Hayes married Maria Candace Ruick, daughter of Eber Ruick and Jane Pratt, on 5 June 1870 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Condit Hayes died in 1902.²

Condit was recorded in the 1900 Granby census, film T623, page 7B, line 87, as a farmer, age 61. Maria and George were in the household.

     Nellie Ellen Hayes was born in 1841 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox. Nellie Ellen Hayes married Bidwell Holcombe, son of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph, on 18 September 1861. Nellie Ellen Hayes died in 1903.²

     George Frederick Mellen was born in 1825. He married Alice Hayes, daughter of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox, on 12 December 1850.

     Elvira Elder was born in 1839 at Worcester, Worcester Co., MA.¹ She was the daughter of Levi Elder and Desire Cudworth. Elvira Elder married (?) Billings. Elvira Elder married Scott Hayes, son of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox, on 3 September 1863 at Chicopee, MA. Elvira Elder died in 1914.¹

     (?) Billings married Elvira Elder, daughter of Levi Elder and Desire Cudworth.

     Nellie Abby Hayes was born on 26 July 1864 at Chicopee, MA. She was the daughter of Scott Hayes and Elvira Elder.

     Caroline Elizabeth Cooley was born on 1 April 1838 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Thomas Cooley and Anna Kennedy. Caroline Elizabeth Cooley married Benjamin Denslow Hayes, son of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox, on 18 May 1855 at Blackberry, IL.

     Frederick Scott Hayes was born on 1 October 1856 at Center Grove, IA. He was the son of Benjamin Denslow Hayes and Caroline Elizabeth Cooley.

     Adeline Ann Hayes was born on 24 July 1859 at Black Hawk Co., IA. She was the daughter of Benjamin Denslow Hayes and Caroline Elizabeth Cooley.

     Ursula Sophia Hayes was born on 31 January 1868 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Benjamin Denslow Hayes and Caroline Elizabeth Cooley.

     Frances Emily Hayes was born on 11 August 1874 at Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., IA. She was the daughter of Benjamin Denslow Hayes and Caroline Elizabeth Cooley.

     Maria Candace Ruick was born on 1 May 1849 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Eber Ruick and Jane Pratt. Maria Candace Ruick married Condit Hayes, son of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox, on 5 June 1870 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Maria Candace Ruick died in 1925.¹

     Eber Ruick was born circa 1813 at CT.¹ He married Jane Pratt.

     Jane Pratt was born circa 1819 at CT.¹ She married Eber Ruick.

     Winnifred Hayes was born on 20 February 1872. She was the daughter of Condit Hayes and Maria Candace Ruick. Winnifred Hayes died on 7 April 1872.

     Clara Sophia Hayes was born on 20 March 1874. She was the daughter of Condit Hayes and Maria Candace Ruick.

     George Condit Hayes was born on 10 April 1876. He was the son of Condit Hayes and Maria Candace Ruick. George Condit Hayes married Anna May (?) circa 1904.¹ George Condit Hayes died in 1958.²

George C. and Annie C. were enumerated in the 1910 Hartford, Hartford Co., CT, federal census. He was a house carpenter, age 34, she was 28. The only child in the household was Harold A. 3. Also in the household ws George's widowed mother, Maria C. 60.

     Hannah Buttolph was born circa 1800.¹ She married Bidwell Holcombe, son of Amasa Holcombe and Ruth Hoskins. Hannah Buttolph died on 2 November 1890.¹ She was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

McPherson calls Hannah "Buttles" in one place, "Buttolph" in the other, this is very common.

In "Stones" Carol Laun lists her as possibly the daughter of Enoch and Philette (Rice) Buttles.

     Harriet Holcombe was the daughter of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph.

Possibly married Amos H. Cowdry and was enumerated in the 1850 Hartsgrove, Ashtabula Co., OH, federal census with brother Bidwell in the household.

     Amassa Holcombe was the son of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph.

     Caroline Holcombe was born on 4 September 1820 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph. Caroline Holcombe married Sherman Fancher. Caroline Holcombe died on 23 September 1897 at Canton, Hartford Co., CT, at age 77.¹ She was buried at Granby Center Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

Sherman and Caroline were enumerated in the 1850 Granby, Hartford Co., CT federal census. He was a carriage maker, age 33; she was 30. Alton was 7, Emery was 4, John was 2. Also in the household were Philetta Holcombe, age 18, and 4 men who were carriage makers. Sherman employed nine workers who made 60 carriages in 1850. These vehicles sold for about $1,000 each.

     Horace Holcombe was born on 17 June 1824. He was the son of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph.

     Hannah Holcombe was the daughter of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph.

     Bidwell Holcombe was born in May 1835. He was the son of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph. Bidwell Holcombe married Nellie Ellen Hayes, daughter of Thaddeus Flavel Hayes and Sophia Wilcox, on 18 September 1861. Bidwell Holcombe died in 1906.²

Bidwell was recorded in the 1850 Census of Hartsgrove, District #8, Ashtabula Co., Ohio, living with Amos Cowdry as nearest neighbor to Charles Holcomb and 2nd nearest to Caleb Holcomb. He was a commercial agent in New York City, residence Granby, when he married.

Bidwell was also recorded in the 1880 Wallingford, New Haven Co., CT federal census (NA film T9-0104, page 35B) He was 44, married, a traveling salesman; he was in the household of Wales Hayes.

Bidwell and Nellie were recorded in the 1900 Granby census, page 8A, line 3. They had no children survive infancy.

     Jennie Holcombe was the daughter of Bidwell Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph.
