     Sarah Catherine Boyer was born on 3 August 1861 at Altoona, Blair Co., PA.¹ She was the daughter of George Boyer and Mary Trunbaugh.¹ Sarah Catherine Boyer married Dwight Perry Mills, son of Edmund Jedidiah Mills and Louisa Baldwin.¹ Sarah Catherine Boyer died on 15 July 1951 at Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS, at age 89.¹

     Vernon Deloss Wells was born on 7 May 1897 at Kinsley, Edwards Co., KS.¹ He was the son of Willis Irving Wells and Livonia Richardson. Vernon Deloss Wells married Florence Mills, daughter of Dwight Perry Mills and Sarah Catherine Boyer.¹ Vernon Deloss Wells died on 15 December 1969 at Lake City, Barber Co., KS, at age 72.¹

     Ortha Anetta Mills was born on 9 July 1896 at IL.¹ She was the daughter of Dwight Perry Mills and Sarah Catherine Boyer.¹ Ortha Anetta Mills died on 28 November 1989 at Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS, at age 93.¹ She was buried at Medicine Lodge, Barber Co., KS.

     Florence Mills was born on 19 October 1900 at Barber Co., KS.^1,2 She was the daughter of Dwight Perry Mills and Sarah Catherine Boyer.¹ Florence Mills married Vernon Deloss Wells, son of Willis Irving Wells and Livonia Richardson.³ Florence Mills died on 26 November 1996 at Kiowa, Barber Co., KS, at age 96.^1,2 She was buried at Medicine Lodge, Barber Co., KS.¹

Vernon and Florence were enumerated in the 1930 Aetna, Barber Co., KS, federal census. He was a farmer, age 38, she was 29. Children in the household were Marion 5, and Elaine 1. Vernon's mother was also in the household and a brother, appeared to be next door.

     Sarah Ellen Mills was born in 1905 at KS.¹ She was the daughter of Dwight Perry Mills and Sarah Catherine Boyer.¹ Sarah Ellen Mills died at Colorado Springs, El Paso Co., CO.¹ She was buried at Derby, Sedgwick Co., KS.¹

     Edward Rogers was born circa 1805.¹ He was the son of Anthony Rogers and Lydia Ledden.¹ Edward Rogers died after 1860.¹

Edward, who did not marry, was a member of the household of his brother Anthony for most of his life. He was a lumberman who served in several responsible parish offices over a period of more than twenty years. He was a surveyor of lumber, a member of the North West Boom Committee in 1829, an overseer of the poor, and a trustee of schools. In 1836, in what would appear to have been an ugly quarrel over tax monies, he and his brother Robert were arrested for "grand larceny," and he and Robert, and Alexander Ledden were charged with having assaulted Charles Dolan, the tax collector. Little would seem to have come of this affair, however, and Edward was soon again entrusted with public duties. He left the parish in 1849, as did other members of the famly. In 1850 he was head of the household of Margaret, the widow of Charles McPartlin, in Orono, Maine. On the Miramichi, she had lived not far from the Rogers family, and she had taken her departure at around the same time. It is not known how long he stayed in Orono, but in 1860, he was head of the household in which his brother Anthony Rogers and his famly were living in Brown township, Manistee County, Michigan. ¹

     Robert Rogers was born circa 1809.¹ He was the son of Anthony Rogers and Lydia Ledden.¹ Robert Rogers married Jane Ledden on 29 September 1830.¹ Robert Rogers died after 1881.¹

     Anthony Rogers was born on 10 July 1814.¹ He was the son of Anthony Rogers and Lydia Ledden.¹ Anthony Rogers married Margaret Sweet on 1 December 1837.¹ Anthony Rogers died on 1 March 1888 at Browntown, Manistee Co., MI, at age 73.¹

In the summer of 1848, Anthony divested himself of his property, and in the spring of 1849, he an dhis family, othether with members of the Bullock, Flaherty, Griffiths, and Sweet families, pulled up stakes and moved to Town of Lake (Milwaukee), Wisconsin. On March 3, 1849, just before leaving, eleven members of the party were baptized by the Rev. Samuel Bacon, rector of St. Paul's Anglican Church, at Chatham Head. ¹

Anthony and Margaret were enumerated in the 1850 Lake, Milwaukee Co., WI, federal census. He was a farmer age 40, she was 35. Children in the household were Edward 8, John 6, and Anthony 3. Also in the household was Margaret's father 70, and two Sweet children, Nora 18, and Benjamin 11.

The family moved from Wisconsin to Manistee County, Michigan, in 1856. Along with members of the related families, they settled some miles upriver from the town of Manistee, at a locality known as Browntown, in the Township of Brown.

Anthony and Margaret were enumerated in the 1860 Brown, Manistee Co., MI, federal census. He was a lumberman, age 46, she was 39. They were in a household headed by Edward Rogers. Children in the household were Edward 19, John 16, Anthony 14, William 11, James 9, Jane 7, Mary 5, and Elisa 6 months.

Anthony and Margaret were enumerated in the 1870 Brown, Manistee Co., MI, federal census. He was logging for a saw mill, age 51, she was 48. Children in the household were Anthony Jr., James 15, and Mary 13. Living next door were son Edward and his wife Cornelia.

Anthony and Margaret were enumerated in the 1880 Brown, Manistee Co., MI, federal census in the household of Anthony Jr. He was 65, she was 57.

A brief obituary in the Chatham World stated that Anthony had been on e of the leading lumbermen in Manistee County and the father of ten children, four of whom survived him, along with thirty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ¹

Most of the birth dates and names of the childlren are shown below as they appear in the Rogers-Sweet Bible. since it is evident that much of the information in this book was recorded long after the events occurred it cannot be assumed to be entirely accurate. ¹
