     Marvin Augustus Case was born on 24 February 1874 at Hartland, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Florence Case and Sarah Wright.² Marvin Augustus Case married Ruby Estella Palmer, daughter of Charles Palmer and Lucretia Graves, on 27 August 1899. Marvin Augustus Case died on 31 March 1951 at age 77. Marvin appears in the 1920 Granby census, page 4B, Line 99.

     Ruby Estella Palmer was born on 2 April 1880. She was the daughter of Charles Palmer and Lucretia Graves. Ruby Estella Palmer married Marvin Augustus Case, son of Florence Case and Sarah Wright, on 27 August 1899. Ruby Estella Palmer died on 26 April 1933 at age 53.

     Frank Howard Case was born between 2 September 1901 and 1905. He was the son of Marvin Augustus Case and Ruby Estella Palmer.

     Mahlon Russell Case was born on 6 June 1856 at MA. He was the son of Hector Case and Caroline Bingham Osborn. Mahlon Russell Case married Clara Belle Griffin, daughter of Wilson Griffin and Catharine Pinney. Mahlon Russell Case died on 14 August 1930 at age 74. He was buried at Copper Hill Cemetery, East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

Mahlon and Clara were enumerated in the 1920 Granby Census, page 5B, Line 79, with Rita.

Mahlon and Clara were neumerated in the 1930 Granby Census, page 3B, line 53, with Julius and Rita Ahrene(?) who had just married. Mahlon was a farmer, age 73, Clara was 64. Julius was a carpenter age 30, Rita was 26.

     Clara Belle Griffin was born on 28 May 1865 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Wilson Griffin and Catharine Pinney. Clara Belle Griffin married Mahlon Russell Case, son of Hector Case and Caroline Bingham Osborn. Clara Belle Griffin died on 16 September 1934 at age 69. She was buried at Copper Hill Cemetery, East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

     Ray Melvin Case was born on 21 March 1895. He was the son of Mahlon Russell Case and Clara Belle Griffin. Ray Melvin Case died on 30 September 1909 at age 14. He was buried at Copper Hill Cemetery, East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

     Rita May Case was born on 1 February 1902. She was the daughter of Mahlon Russell Case and Clara Belle Griffin.

     Bethuel Case was born on 31 October 1805 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Noah Case and Olive Case. Bethuel Case married Clement Goddard, daughter of Grove Goddard and Aurie Moses, on 13 September 1831 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Bethuel Case died on 29 September 1898 at Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co., CT, at age 92.

     Clement Goddard was also known as Climena Goddard.¹ She was born on 20 August 1809 at North Canton, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Grove Goddard and Aurie Moses.² Clement Goddard married Bethuel Case, son of Noah Case and Olive Case, on 13 September 1831 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Clement Goddard died on 16 August 1887 at age 77.

A word of warning to readers -- There are some compilations of this family existing in the LDS Library at Salt Lake City, and possibly other places, which show Climena Goddard as marrying William Ward -- This is incorrect for this family -- Even though the name Climena is uncommon, the Climena goddard who married William Ward is the daughter of David Goddard and Zorina White of the Edward Goddard family of Inglesham, england and William Goddard of Watertown, Massachusetts. ³

     Grove Goddard was born on 12 July 1786 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of John Goddard and Lydia Cossitt.² Grove Goddard died on 31 January 1853 at Canton, Hartford Co., CT, at age 66.¹ He was buried at Canton Cemetery, Hartford Co., CT.³

     Bainbridge Bethuel Case was born on 8 April 1838 at Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co., CT. He was the son of Bethuel Case and Clement Goddard. Bainbridge Bethuel Case married Shastina Emma Woodbury, daughter of James H. Woodbury and Maria Hatch, on 27 November 1874 at Canaan, Litchfield Co., CT. Bainbridge Bethuel Case died in 1911.

     Shastina Emma Woodbury was born on 15 February 1846 at VT. She was the daughter of James H. Woodbury and Maria Hatch. Shastina Emma Woodbury married Bainbridge Bethuel Case, son of Bethuel Case and Clement Goddard, on 27 November 1874 at Canaan, Litchfield Co., CT. Shastina Emma Woodbury died in 1930.

     Wilbur Carlos Case was born on 26 October 1878 at East Hartland, CT. He was the son of Bainbridge Bethuel Case and Shastina Emma Woodbury. Wilbur Carlos Case married Marion Ella Brooks, daughter of Walter Henry Brooks and Emma Hall, on 1 July 1904 at Cheshire, CT.

Wilbur C. and Marion E. were enumerated in the 1930 Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census, page 2A. He was the caretaker of an estate, age 53. She was 48. Children in the household were Leslie age 21, and Leon age 20.

     Marion Ella Brooks was born on 18 July 1881 at Cheshire, CT. She was the daughter of Walter Henry Brooks and Emma Hall. Marion Ella Brooks married Wilbur Carlos Case, son of Bainbridge Bethuel Case and Shastina Emma Woodbury, on 1 July 1904 at Cheshire, CT.

     Leslie W. Case was born on 4 August 1908. He was the son of Wilbur Carlos Case and Marion Ella Brooks.

     Leon Roy Case was born on 20 February 1910 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Wilbur Carlos Case and Marion Ella Brooks. Leon Roy Case married Adela B. (?) Leon Roy Case died on 13 April 1976 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 66.¹ He was buried at Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Adela B. (?) was born in 1911. She married Leon Roy Case, son of Wilbur Carlos Case and Marion Ella Brooks. Adela B. (?) died in 1969.

     John appears in the 1920 Census of Granby, page 12B, Line 82, with Annie, mother Betsey, son J. Harold. The Connecticut Death Index gives his wife's name as Ethel; must be a second marriage.

John and Annie were enumerated in the 1930 West Granby Village, Granby Town, Hartford Co., CT, federal census. He was a farmer, age 48, she was 68. Harold and Betsey were both still in the household, as was Kate Higley, a cousin age 86. John Higley Case was born on 26 May 1881 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of George Rowland Case and Betsey Matilda Messenger. John Higley Case married Annie White, daughter of Samuel White and Ruth Higley, on 11 June 1903 at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. John Higley Case died on 2 May 1970 at age 88.^2,3

     Annie White was born on 22 July 1861 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Samuel White and Ruth Higley. Annie White married John Higley Case, son of George Rowland Case and Betsey Matilda Messenger, on 11 June 1903 at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. Annie White died on 10 November 1939 at age 78.¹

     J. Harold Case was the son of John Higley Case and Annie White. J. Harold Case married Eunice A. Smith, daughter of Rev. Harris K. Smith, on 31 October 1933.

     Eunice A. Smith was the daughter of Rev. Harris K. Smith. Eunice A. Smith married J. Harold Case, son of John Higley Case and Annie White, on 31 October 1933.

     John Higley Case was born on 7 April 1905.² He was the son of John Higley Case and Annie White. John Higley Case died in February 1976 at age 70.²

     Lewis Wesley Case was born in July 1836 at Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co., CT. He was the son of Japhet Jepthy Case and Luranna Beers. Lewis Wesley Case married Angennette Bacon, daughter of Warren Bacon and Clarissa Smith, on 24 April 1861 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Lewis Wesley Case died on 12 November 1919 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 83.

Lewis and Angennette were enumerated in the 1880 Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census. He was a farmer, age 42, she was 43. Children in the household were Herman 18, Ella 14, Westley 12, Burten 9, Alvin 5, and Iva 3. Also in the household was mother-in-law Clarissa Bacon, 71.

Lewis was recorded in the 1900 Granby census, page 7A, line 49, age 63, as a farmer. Wife Angennette and children Burton and Alvin were also in the household as was Alvin's wife Lottie.

     Angennette Bacon was born on 25 October 1836 at MA. She was the daughter of Warren Bacon and Clarissa Smith. Angennette Bacon married Lewis Wesley Case, son of Japhet Jepthy Case and Luranna Beers, on 24 April 1861 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Angennette Bacon died on 7 July 1920 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 83.

     Alvin was listed in the 1920 Census of Granby, page 13A, line 12, with Lottie, Harmon, Oliver, daughter Marion, mother Ann J.

Alvin and Lottie were enumerated in the 1930 West Granby Village, Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census, page 13A. He was a farm laborer, age 55, she was 54. There were no others in the household. Alvin Henry Case was born on 24 September 1874 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lewis Wesley Case and Angennette Bacon. Alvin Henry Case married Lottie Jane Frazier in 1898. Alvin Henry Case died on 24 May 1970 at age 95.

     Lottie Jane Frazier was born on 11 April 1875. She married Alvin Henry Case, son of Lewis Wesley Case and Angennette Bacon, in 1898. Lottie Jane Frazier died on 5 November 1946 at age 71.

     Harmon Case was born in 1900. He was the son of Alvin Henry Case and Lottie Jane Frazier.

     Oliver Case was born in 1905. He was the son of Alvin Henry Case and Lottie Jane Frazier.

     Taphanes Holcombe was born in 1795. Taphanes Holcombe was the child of Judge John Vinton Holcombe and Chloe Mudge.

     Abner Johnson Holcombe II was born on 11 August 1796 at NY.¹ He was the son of Judge John Vinton Holcombe and Chloe Mudge. Abner Johnson Holcombe II married Ann Smith Holcombe, daughter of General Samuel Robert Holcombe and Sarah Ewing, on 22 January 1820 at Gallia Co., OH.^1,2 Abner Johnson Holcombe II died on 13 December 1874 at Huntington Twp., Gallia Co., OH, at age 78; (death record says Dec 17.)^1,3 He was buried at Holcomb Cemetery, Huntington Twp., Gallia Co., OH.^1,4,5

     Dr. Ira Holcombe was born in 1805 at NY. He was the son of Judge John Vinton Holcombe and Chloe Mudge. Dr. Ira Holcombe married Esther M. Ewing, daughter of James Ewing and Mary McMillin, on 26 February 1837 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ Dr. Ira Holcombe died on 24 September 1860 at Gallia Co., OH.

Ira and Esther made their home in Vinton, where Ira was a physician. They were listed in Huntington Township in the 1840, 1850 and 1860 census. That last year Ira was worth, $1,000 and $350, and all nine of their children were at home.

The 1860s were bad years for Esther. On 24 September 1860 she lost her husband of 23 years. Ira died of consumption. There is no stone marking his resting place, but there is an unmarked grave at Glenn Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio, next to stones of two sons, which could be his.

Then in 1863, son Anselm T. Holcombe died, age 11 years. And when the Civil War came along, Esther sent two sons off, but only one came home, Calvary having died at Summerville, West Virginia of typhoid.

Not long after the war was over, Esther gave it all up and decided to join her sisters, brother and other relatives in Hancock County, Illinois. When she left for Illinois, her four remaining sons went with her, and possibly her two daughters, though nothing is known of them.

Soon after her arrival near the Mississippi River, she met and married Dr. Knott, but he died within a year of two of the marriage.

So there was Esther, alone again. She should have been in the 1870 Hancock County census, but she was not found. Three of Esther's sons were located in the 1870 Hancock County census.

Esther applied for a pension through her son Calvary's war-related death, but she died before receiving anything. According to the postmaster at Burnside, Illinois, her death took place 18 June 1878, and at the time she lived "within a half mile of La Crosse, Illinois." She was 58 years old.

     William R. Holcombe was born in 1808. He was the son of Judge John Vinton Holcombe and Chloe Mudge. William R. Holcombe married an unknown person on 4 November 1830 at Gallia Co., OH. He died on 26 July 1831 at Vinton, Gallia Co., OH.

     Samuel Daniel Holcombe was born in 1814. He was the son of Judge John Vinton Holcombe and Chloe Mudge. Samuel Daniel Holcombe married Melona Ann Jennings on 3 August 1844 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ Samuel Daniel Holcombe died on 22 August 1875 at Portland (now Leando), VanBuren Co., IA.
