David Holcomb, son of George and Catherine Holcomb, was born at Quinshan, Madison Township, Sandusky County, Ohio, Feb. 28, 1840, and departed this life Jan. 26, 1918, aged 77 years, 10 months and 27 days.
Mr. Holcomb was married to Cynthia J. Doty in 1866. She preceded him to her grave in 1872. He was married again to Wilmena Metzger, of Pennsylvania, on Feb. 28, 1875. To this union six children were born.
He leaves to mourn his departure a wife and six children, namely Plin Holcomb, of Rollersville; Mrs. Ruby Lindsey, of Helena; Brice Holcomb, of Gibsonburg; Glen, John and Mart Holcomb, who are at home; also eight grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Mrs. John Holcomb, and one nephew, G. W. Holcomb, both of Helena. His parents, one grand child and two brothers preceded him to their graves.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. of Helena, having joined tha institution in the year 1877, being an active member for 41 years. He always followed the occupation of farming and was willing to lend a helping hand to all. A kind and loving husband and father, he was well liked in the community in which he lived.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Veh and Sn Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Charles W. Cory, pastor of Trinity E.U.B. Church. Burial will be in Quinshan Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Friday noon.
Mr. Holcomb is survived by four sons, Charles of Helena, David of Gibsonburg, Orla of Rollersville and Angus of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Everett Garey of Gibsonburg; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a brother Mart Holcomb, Gibsonburg and a sister Mrs. William Kuhns of Helena.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie, four years ago; his parents, a son, a daughter and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Monday with burial in Quinshan Cemetery.

The body will be brougt to Quinshan Cemetery, in Madison Township for burial. The casket will be opened at the grave and the funeral cortage is expected to arrive at the cemetery between 4:30 and 5 p.m.

Mart Holcomb, 79, 535 Krotzer Avenue, died Friday at 4 a.m. in St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, of injuries suffered September 6 in a traffic accident three and one-half miles west of Gibsonburg in Sandusky County.
A car driven by Mr. Holcomb struck a bridge railing and flipped over, Mr. Holcomb sffered facial, leg and head injuries. He failed to regain consciousness.
Mrs. Pauline Holcomb, his wife, died five hours after the accident.
Mr. Holcomb had moved in Luckey two and one-half years ago after having farmed in the Gibsonburg area for many years.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church with burial in Quinshan Cemetery.
Mrs. Holcomb was born January 15, 1888 near Bradner. He and his wife had observed their 56th wedding anniversary in June.
Surviving are sons, Gerald, Monroe, Mich., and Earl, operator of the Holcomb Funeral Home; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Kuns, Helena and four grandchildren. Fouor brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Holcomb Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Friday. The body will be removed to Zion Lutheran Church to lie in state from Sunday noon until services at 2 p.m.
The Holcomb death was the 24th traffic fatality in Sandusky County this year.
