Waterbury, Conn., Sept 30. The marriage of Miss Martha Holcomb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Holcomb of this city and Fishers Island, N.Y., to Frank Ronald Stemp of Paget, Bermuda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hubert Stemp of Canford Cliffs, Dorset, England, took place here this afternoon in St. John's Church. The Rev. Dr. John N. Lewis performed the ceremony.
The bride wore a gown of white satin with a square neckline and a tulle veil caught with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of orchids, bouvardia and gardenias.
Mrs. Pierre S. du Ponte of Richmond, Va., and Miss Nancy Holcomb, sisters of the bride, were the matron and maid of honor. The other attendants were Mrs. Mark L. Sperry 2d of Middlebury, the Misses Barbara Brown of New Rochelle, N. Y; Alexandrine du Pont of Wilmington, Del., and Nancy Buckingham of Watertown.
Pierre S. du Ponte 3d was the best man. Ushers included Richard W. Goss and Walter Wallace of Waterbury, Herbert Scott and John Peacock Green of Bermuda, Charles P. Ware of Milton, Mass., and Kenneth Young and Harold Hennessey of New York.
A reception was given at the Holcomb home after the ceremony.
Mr. Stamp and his bride will go to England on their wedding trip. After Jan. 1 they will reside at The Chimneys, Paget.
Mrs. Stamp, a member of the Junior League, attended the Westover School. The bridegroom, who received his education in Edinburgh, Scotland, is general manager of the Bermuda Railroad.

Henry Sherman Holcomb, a member of the board of fire commissioners of New Haven, died there yesterday morning from injuries received in a fall on the pavement in front of his home on December 6. His skull was fractured and he also suffered concussion of the brain. He was born in Branford in 1846, son of a carriage manufacturer, and was in that business all his life. He moved to New Haven about thirty years ago and was in business under various firm names, including F. A. Holcomb & Sons, F. A. Holcomb's Sons, Holcomb Bros. & Co., and finally the New Haven Carriage Company, which was sold out two years ago to the Electric Vehicle Company. About fifteen years ago Mr. Holcomb spent some time in San Francisco, where his firm had a carriage repository. Since his retirement from the New Haven Carriage Company, Mr. Holcomb had devoted most of this time to the duties of fire commissioner. In politics Mr. Holcomb was a democrat. His first political office was that of fire commissioner, to which he was appointed in 1899 and was elected president. He was for a great many years and up to the time of his death one of the governors of the Quinnipiack Club. He was also a member of the board of governors of the Ansantawae Club. He was a Knight Templar and Past High Priest of Pulaski Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. Some years ago he was very active in Masonic work and there are few high degree Masons better known in the state. He leaves a wife, a daughter, Mrs. S. A. York, Jr., a son, Harry C., two brothers ex-Mayor George F. Holcomb and Charles N., and two sisters, Miss Minnie Holcomb of Newton, Mass., and Mrs. J. H. Page of Portland, Ore.

Calvin Holcombe married Eunice Reed, daughter of Martin Reed and Mary Moore, on 22 February 1798. Calvin Holcombe died on 4 March 1848 at Paris Township, Portage Co., OH, at age 76. He was buried on 6 March 1848 at Hawley Cemetery, Paris Township, Portage Co., OH.2
