     Adaline Noble was born on 21 August 1809.¹ She was the daughter of Enoch Noble and Dorothy Holcombe. Adaline Noble died on 18 November 1842 at Springville, PA, at age 33; unmarried.¹

     Daniel Noble was born on 27 October 1811.¹ He was the son of Enoch Noble and Dorothy Holcombe. Daniel Noble married Fanny Maria Wheeler, daughter of Simeon Wheeler and Polly Noble, on 27 December 1833.²

     Fanny Maria Wheeler was born on 24 September 1815.¹ She was the daughter of Simeon Wheeler and Polly Noble. Fanny Maria Wheeler married Daniel Noble, son of Enoch Noble and Dorothy Holcombe, on 27 December 1833.¹ Fanny Maria Wheeler died on 4 November 1837 at Salem, PA, at age 22.¹

     Erastus Noble was born on 11 May 1814.¹ He was the son of Enoch Noble and Dorothy Holcombe. Erastus Noble married Martha Fowler on 11 January 1852.²

     Martha Fowler was born on 14 June 1826.¹ She married Erastus Noble, son of Enoch Noble and Dorothy Holcombe, on 11 January 1852.¹

     Justus Holcomb Noble was born on 14 July 1816.¹ He was the son of Enoch Noble and Dorothy Holcombe. Justus Holcomb Noble married Eliza Ann Wheeler, daughter of Simeon Wheeler and Polly Noble, on 12 January 1837.²

Justus and Eliza are first cousins.

Justus H. and Eliza A. were enumerated in the 1850 Eastern District, Grant Co., WI, federal census. He was a farmer, age 34, she was 39. Children in the household were Simeon A. 13, Fanny M. 11, Wm. A. 9, Olive A. 7, Harriet L. 6, and Eliza S. 4. Also in the household was Justus' brother, Eratus N. 36.

Justus was enumerated in the 1855 Fennimore, Grant Co., WI, state census.

     Eliza Ann Wheeler was born on 19 September 1811.¹ She was the daughter of Simeon Wheeler and Polly Noble. Eliza Ann Wheeler married Justus Holcomb Noble, son of Enoch Noble and Dorothy Holcombe, on 12 January 1837.¹

     Warren Holcombe was born on 22 September 1778.² He was the son of Judah Holcombe and Anna Hubbard. Warren Holcombe married Ascenath Holcombe, daughter of Cpl. Roger Hayes Holcombe and Mercy Gillett. Warren Holcombe died on 4 March 1864 at age 85.² He was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^2,3

Warren and Asenath were enumerated in the 1850 Granby, Hartford Co., CT, census with Henry and a number of boarders. They lived near Hezekiah Goodrich Sr., Warren's brother-in-law.

     Ascenath Holcombe was born in 1782. She was the daughter of Cpl. Roger Hayes Holcombe and Mercy Gillett. Ascenath Holcombe married Warren Holcombe, son of Judah Holcombe and Anna Hubbard. Ascenath Holcombe died on 6 April 1851; lung fever.⁴ She was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^4,5

     Emily Holcombe was born in 1803. She was the daughter of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Emily Holcombe married Lyman I. Allen on 15 August 1822 at CT.¹ Emily Holcombe died on 3 April 1852.¹

     Lyman I. Allen was born circa 1797 at CT.¹ He married Emily Holcombe, daughter of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe, on 15 August 1822 at CT.¹ Lyman I. Allen married Esther L. (?) before 1860.¹ Lyman I. Allen died before 1880.¹

     Amelia Holcombe was born on 15 June 1804 at CT.¹ She was the daughter of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Amelia Holcombe married Thomas Kasson. Amelia Holcombe died on 30 April 1887 at age 82.¹ She was buried at New Ohio Cemetery, North Colesville, Broome Co., NY.²

     Thomas Kasson was born in December 1797.¹ He married Amelia Holcombe, daughter of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Thomas Kasson died on 4 August 1870 at age 72.¹ He was buried at New Ohio Cemetery, North Colesville, Broome Co., NY.¹

     Ascenath Holcombe was born on 6 March 1816. She was the daughter of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Ascenath Holcombe married Samuel Benjamin, son of Samuel Benjamin and Rachel Holcombe.¹ Ascenath Holcombe died on 12 February 1873 at age 56.^1,2

     Lorrain Giddings was born on 14 May 1835 at Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co., CT.^1,2 He was the son of Lorrain Giddings and Desdemona Cowdry.¹ Lorrain Giddings married Mary E. Tiffany on 14 February 1856.² Lorrain Giddings died on 21 December 1912 at Hudson, Hillsborough Co., NH, at age 77. He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, Hillsborough Co., NH.³

     Sabra Holcombe was born on 18 May 1812 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Sabra Holcombe married Nahum Holcombe Jr., son of Nahum Holcombe and Rebecca Moore, on 27 April 1830 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Sabra Holcombe died on 29 September 1849 at age 37; typhoid pneumonia (or childbirth.)² She was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Nahum Holcombe Jr. was born on 4 July 1807 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of Nahum Holcombe and Rebecca Moore. Nahum Holcombe Jr. married Sabra Holcombe, daughter of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe, on 27 April 1830 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Nahum Holcombe Jr. married Orpha L. Holcombe, daughter of Samuel Holcombe and Lucinda Holcombe. Nahum Holcombe Jr. died on 27 August 1871 at age 64; of a tumor on his leg.³ He was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³

     Reuben Holcombe was born in 1725 or 1730 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lt. David Holcombe and Mehitable Buttolph. Reuben Holcombe married Susanna Hayes, daughter of Samuel Hayes and Elizabeth Willcockson, in 1751. Reuben Holcombe died on 24 May 1797 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.⁵

     Susanna Hayes was born on 26 November 1735.¹ She was the daughter of Samuel Hayes and Elizabeth Willcockson. Susanna Hayes married Reuben Holcombe, son of Lt. David Holcombe and Mehitable Buttolph, in 1751. Susanna Hayes died on 25 September 1770 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 34.²

     Nahum Holcombe was born on 7 May 1763 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^4,5 He was the son of Reuben Holcombe and Susanna Hayes. Nahum Holcombe married Rebecca Moore, daughter of Shadrack Moore and Miriam Stevens, on 26 November 1789.⁶ Nahum Holcombe married Orroce Shaw, daughter of John Shaw. Nahum Holcombe died on 12 April 1851 at age 87.^7,5 He was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.⁵

Simsbury records indicate the birth date of 'Naaman' as May 5, 1763.

At the foot of the hill on which Reuben had build his house, the house where Increae now lived, Nahum, who had recently married Rebecca Moore, built the Holcomb Farm homestead that still stands at the intersection of Simsbury Road and Day Street South.

Nahum served as a private in the Connecticut Continental Line in the American Revolution, being shown in records of Hartford Co., Conn. in 1832 as Revolutionary pensioner and in 1833 as "private, 70 years old, receiving $36.66 per year".

Nahum's children, Justin, Milton, and Fidelia, were baptised on 4 November 1798 as documented in the Connecticut Church Record Abstracts , Vol. 41, Granby, page 77.

     Rebecca Moore was born on 21 July 1764 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.¹ She was the daughter of Shadrack Moore and Miriam Stevens. Rebecca Moore married Nahum Holcombe, son of Reuben Holcombe and Susanna Hayes, on 26 November 1789.² Rebecca Moore died on 23 December 1819 at age 55; fever.¹ She was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Orroce Shaw was also known as Horris Shaw.¹ She was born on 10 August 1764 at Wilbraham, MA.¹ She was the daughter of John Shaw. Orroce Shaw married Nahum Holcombe, son of Reuben Holcombe and Susanna Hayes. Orroce Shaw died on 28 March 1843 at age 78.¹ She was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Deacon Augustine Holcombe was born on 31 January 1797 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of Nahum Holcombe and Rebecca Moore. Deacon Augustine Holcombe was adopted. He married Lucy Bush, daughter of Col. Jotham Bush and Mary Taylor, on 1 June 1825. Deacon Augustine Holcombe died on 11 May 1837 at Sterling, Worcester Co., MA, at age 40; of consumption.³

Augustine was adopted by his uncle, Rev. Reuben Holcombe, who educated him. He served as captian; became a scientific farmer and fruit grower and served as deacon, Sterling, MA. "Was a fine looking man, 5 ft. and over, not stout, brown hair, blue eyes, and regular features."

The will of Augustine was recorded at Sterling, Worcester Co., MA in 1837 (case # 30, 135),and guardians were appointed there in 1837 for his children William Frederick and Susan Huntington.

     Lucy Bush was born on 30 March 1794. She was the daughter of Col. Jotham Bush and Mary Taylor. Lucy Bush married Deacon Augustine Holcombe, son of Nahum Holcombe and Rebecca Moore, on 1 June 1825. Lucy Bush died on 30 October 1854 at age 60.

     Dr. William Frederick Holcombe was born on 2 April 1827 at Sterling, Worcester Co., MA. He was the son of Deacon Augustine Holcombe and Lucy Bush. Dr. William Frederick Holcombe married Margaret Wanzer, daughter of Moses Wanzer and Sarah Aiken, on 16 November 1852 at New Fairfield, CT. Dr. William Frederick Holcombe died on 17 March 1904 at Presbyterian Hospital, New York City, NY, at age 76.

Dr. Holcombe attended Williston Seminary, Easthampton, Mass; graduated at Albany (NY) Medical College, 1850; took special medical courses in Universities of Paris and Prague. Professor and lecturer on diseases of the eye and ear, New York University Medical College, 1861-2; at New York Ophthalmic Coll., and Hosp. 1863; and at N. Y Med. Coll. for Women, 1867. Mem Medical Societies of NY, Amer. Med. Ass'n. and International Med. Soc. One of the founders of the NY Genealogical and Biographical Soc'y, 1869.

Dr. Holcombe was known as "one of the most distinguished physicians in New York and a noted specialist on diseases of the eye and ear." It seems unusual that, as old age approached, his own vision and hearing became impaired. As a result of this, he did not practise his profession or continue his class work at the Universities during the last ten years of his life, though he did continue to treat a few of his older patients. During his time he treated many prominent men--Daniel Webster, Charles Sumner, President Ulysses S. Grant, in whose last illness Dr. Holcombe was called in consultation, and others.

Dr. Holcombe was, without doubt, the best-known Holcombe of any Generation, and this is largely due to his wide correspondence and personal visits with members of the family in all parts of the United States and elsewhere. He had a very pleasing, magnetic personality, a generous nature and courteour manners, was a gentleman in every sense of the word, and was loved by all who knew him. He treated and addressed all Holcombes in a kind, familiar manner; as though they were members of his own household. In appearance he was stately and dignified, greatly resembling the poets William Cullen Bryant and Henry W. Longfellow. That there was a humorous side to his nature many have testified and some of his practical jokes are told by his friends. A correspondent in Iowa writes "He came here in 1888 armed with a horse-pistol to 'kill Indians,' as he supposed there were many of them here." Dr. Holcombe spent a fortune and many years of his time collecting information on the Holcombes, making several trips to England and to many parts of the US for this purpose, and the family owes him a debt of gratitude which can never be paid.

The Barbour Collection of Town records shows he was born on April 2, 1817.

     Margaret Wanzer was born on 5 March 1826 at New Fairfield, CT. She was the daughter of Moses Wanzer and Sarah Aiken. Margaret Wanzer married Dr. William Frederick Holcombe, son of Deacon Augustine Holcombe and Lucy Bush, on 16 November 1852 at New Fairfield, CT. Margaret Wanzer died on 19 December 1891 at age 65.

     Joel Holcombe was born on 18 May 1812 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Joel Holcombe was also known as Hoel Holcombe. Joel Holcombe was also known as Howell Holcombe. He married Orilla Jones on 1 October 1839. Joel Holcombe died on 20 September 1886 at Andover, Ashtabula Co., OH, at age 74.¹ He was buried at Andover Cemetery, Andover, Ashtabula Co., OH.¹

Moved to Trumbull Co., Ohio in 1824 with his sister Emily and her husband Lyman Allen.

Children in the household, all born in Ohio, were Henry 9, Almina 7, Albert 6, Jane 5, Sabra 3, James D. 1. Also in the household was Lucina Jones, age 22.

Hoel and Orilla were enumerated in the 1860 Andover, Ashtabula Co., OH, federal census, page 230. He was a farmer age 48; she was 37. Children in the household were Almina 18, Albert 16, Jane 15, Sabra 13, James D. 12, and Everett 6.

     Orilla Jones was born in July 1823 at OH.^1,2 She married Joel Holcombe, son of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe, on 1 October 1839. Orilla Jones died in 1915.¹ She was buried at Andover Cemetery, Andover, Ashtabula Co., OH.¹

     Henry Judah Holcombe was also known as Henry B. Holcombe. He was born circa 1817 at CT.¹ He was the son of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Henry Judah Holcombe married Eliza Minerva Adams. Henry Judah Holcombe died on 4 May 1894.² He was buried at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Eliza Minerva Adams was born in 1809.^1,2 She married Henry Judah Holcombe, son of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Eliza Minerva Adams died on 24 June 1870.² She was buried at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Carlton Holcombe was born on 18 August 1820.^2,3 He was the son of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Carlton Holcombe married Ann Eliza Wilcox, daughter of Ovil Wilcox and Orpha Wright, on 27 May 1847 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ Carlton Holcombe died on 30 August 1897 at age 77; consumption.³ He was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³

Trained as a shoemaker by Truman Allen and in 1840, he moved to West Granby to take up the shoe trade by himself. Nahum Jr. gave him land and shop, and financed the building of his house. There were three shoemakers in town; Carlton employed four men and two women. They produced 1,525 pairs of shoes and boots per year iin 1850.

     Ann Eliza Wilcox was also known as Eliza Ann Wilcox.¹ She was born on 10 June 1828.¹ She was the daughter of Ovil Wilcox and Orpha Wright.² Ann Eliza Wilcox married Carlton Holcombe, son of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe, on 27 May 1847 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³ Ann Eliza Wilcox died on 29 March 1876 at age 47; pleurisy.² She was buried at West Granby Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Caroline Holcombe was born on 4 July 1857 at West Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Carlton Holcombe and Ann Eliza Wilcox. Caroline Holcombe died on 11 May 1934 at Bancroft Rest Home, Ocean Grove, NJ, at age 76.² She was buried at Ocean Grove, NJ.²

Miss Carrie E. Holcombe, a Methodist deaconess for many years, died Friday at the Bancroft Rest Home, Ocean Grove, N.J. after a long illness. Born July 4, 1857 in West Granby, a daughter of the late Carlton and Eliza (Wilcox) Holcomb, she had been engaged in church work in New York, Brooklyn, Utica, N.Y. and Cleveland, Ohio. She leaves a brother, Leon M. Holcombe of Hartford; and two nieces, Miss Carolyn H. Holcombe of Hartford and Mrs. Olive (Holcombe) Wheeler of Schenectady, N.Y. Funeral and burial will be in Ocean Grove.

     Leon Monroe Holcombe was born on 17 October 1867 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Carlton Holcombe and Ann Eliza Wilcox. Leon Monroe Holcombe married Belle M. Hayes, daughter of Watson Hayes, on 3 October 1894 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Leon Monroe Holcombe died in 1955 at Preston, CT. He was buried at Center Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT; A-424.¹

Leon M. and Belle H. were enumerated in the 1930 Hartford, Hartford Co., CT federal census, ED 84, page 41B. He was 62, a district manager of washing machine sales, she was 60. Carolyn was in the household, age 30, a stenographer in an insurance office.

     Belle M. Hayes was born on 25 January 1870 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Watson Hayes.² Belle M. Hayes married Leon Monroe Holcombe, son of Carlton Holcombe and Ann Eliza Wilcox, on 3 October 1894 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Belle M. Hayes died on 24 November 1961 at age 91. She was buried at Center Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT; Lot A-424.

     Lyman I. Holcombe was born circa 1823 at CT.¹ He was the son of Warren Holcombe and Ascenath Holcombe. Lyman I. Holcombe married Cynthia C. Rounds. Lyman I. Holcombe died on 6 January 1904.²

     Benoni Holcombe was born in 1752 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Judah Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph.¹ Benoni Holcombe died on 14 February 1829; unmarried.² He was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³

     Hannah Gillett was born on 10 February 1745/46 at Salmon Brook (now Granby), Hartford Co., CT.^2,3 She was the daughter of Othniel Gillett and Eunice (?) Hannah Gillett was also known as Hannah Shepherd. She married Daniel Holcombe, son of Judah Holcombe and Hannah Buttolph, in 1769. Hannah Gillett died on 18 September 1807 at age 61.⁴ She was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.⁴

     Died as a result of a limb from a tree falling on him. Henry Holcombe was born on 29 March 1841 at Andover, Ashtabula Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Joel Holcombe and Orilla Jones. Henry Holcombe died on 12 October 1904 at age 63.
