     John Filmore Hook was born on 17 August 1920 at Spokane, Spokane Co, WA.¹ He married Laura Louise Rodgers, daughter of Fredrick William Rodgers and Lydia Elizabeha Hoener, on 11 December 1948 at Portland, Multnomah Co., OR.¹ John Filmore Hook died on 1 October 1999 at Sequim, Clallam Co., WA, at age 79.¹

     Sarah Knowlton was born on 14 September 1815 at LeRoy, Genesee Co., NY. She married Mumford Hayes, son of Pliny Hayes and Lucretia Jewett, on 7 October 1851 at East Bloomfield, NY.

     James Preston Johnson was born in 1879.¹ He married Phoebe Moten on 20 April 1901 at Edwardsville, Madison Co., IL.¹

     Caroline Virginie Hayes was born on 12 May 1853 at East Bloomfield, NY. She was the daughter of Mumford Hayes and Sarah Knowlton.

     Zarah Phelps was born circa 1773.¹ He was the son of Lieut. Isaac Phelps and Jemima Holcombe.¹ Zarah Phelps died on 6 September 1853 at Becket, Berkshire Co., MA.¹

     Lucinda Warren was born on 20 September 1805 at Clarence, Erie Co., NY. She married Hector Hayes, son of Pliny Hayes and Lucretia Jewett, on 30 January 1830 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY.

     Mary Lucinda Hayes was born on 6 August 1840 at North Plains, MI. She was the daughter of Hector Hayes and Lucinda Warren.

     Montgomery Holcombe was the son of Obed Holcombe and Rachel (?)¹

     Emma Hayes was born on 25 November 1843 at North Plains, MI. She was the daughter of Hector Hayes and Lucinda Warren. Emma Hayes died on 25 December 1843 at North Plains, MI.

     Horace Hill was born in 1805.¹ He was the son of Caleb Hill and Cynthia Strong.¹

     Louisa Anna Wilder was born on 24 May 1811 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. She married Guy Hayes, son of Pliny Hayes and Lucretia Jewett, on 4 July 1831 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. Louisa Anna Wilder died on 16 May 1844 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY, at age 32.

     James R. Holcombe was born circa 1930. He was the son of William George Holcombe and Katherine Koch.

     Louisa Elizabeth Hayes was born on 30 June 1833 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. She was the daughter of Guy Hayes and Louisa Anna Wilder. Louisa Elizabeth Hayes married Randolph Huntington on 6 September 1854 at East Bloomfield, NY.

     John Bernard Holcombe was born on 29 February 1884 at Paris, Edgar Co., IL. He was the son of Edmund Wood Holcombe and Mary Ann Mullins. John Bernard Holcombe died on 20 November 1916 at age 32.

     Narcissa Hayes was born on 3 August 1839 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. She was the daughter of Guy Hayes and Louisa Anna Wilder. Narcissa Hayes died in 1839.

     Charlie Johnson was born in 1907.¹ He was the son of James Preston Johnson and Phoebe Moten.¹ Charlie Johnson died on 11 January 1908.¹

     Susan Wright was born on 27 February 1818 at Duanesburgh, NY. She married Guy Hayes, son of Pliny Hayes and Lucretia Jewett, on 30 December 1844 at Livonia, Livingston Co., NY.

     William George Holcombe was born on 10 March 1920 at New Britain, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Samuel George Holcombe and Amy Gould.¹ William George Holcombe married Katherine Koch.² William George Holcombe died on 29 May 1976 at New Britain, Hartford Co., CT, at age 56.³

William G. and Katherine were enumerated in the 1940 New Britain, Hartford Co., CT, federal census. He was a tree surgeon, age 20, she was 23. Also in the household were son John W., 2; grandmother Alice V. Duffield 67, widowed; father Samuel G. 43, and brother James R. 19.

     Adelaide Blackmer was born on 15 January 1834 at Livonia, Livingston Co., NY. She was the daughter of Harvey Blackmer and Elizabeth Adelaide Hayes. Adelaide Blackmer died on 27 October 1834 at Livonia, Livingston Co., NY.

     William George Holcombe Jr. was born on 15 January 1938 at New Britain, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of William George Holcombe and Katherine Koch.¹ William George Holcombe Jr. died on 11 June 2013 at age 75. He was buried at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Memorial Garden, Plainville, Hartford Co., CT.²

William (Bill) Holcomb, Jr., 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered into life eternal peacefully on June 11, 2013 surrounded by the love of his family.

The oldest son of William and Katherine (Koch) Holcomb, he was born in New Britain, on January 15, 1938 and lived in Plainville for most of his life.

He shared 31 wonderful years of marriage with Valerie Holcomb.

A veteran, Bill proudly served in the Air Force and was stationed in Iceland as well as Michigan. He inherited Holcomb Tree Service from his father, which he owned and operated for more than 45 years before passing the business, Holcomb Tree, Inc., on to his sons who continue the family tradition in Plainville.

Two of his sons began their own endeavors as arborists - Bill Holcomb III owns and operates Holcomb Arboricultural Services out of Southington, and David Holcomb owns and operates Dave Holcomb Tree out of New Hartford.

Bill loved his work and the outdoors. He enjoyed exploring the back roads, mountains, streams, and parks of this country in his pick-up truck or on his motorcycle. He touched many lives and was loved by all. He could always be counted on to help a friend, no matter how big or small the job. He will be missed by many and leaves behind his loving wife, Valerie; five sons, William (Bill) Holcomb III and his wife Debbie of Southington, Dave Holcomb and his wife Kelly of New Hartford, Michael Holcomb of Bristol, Tim Holcomb of Plainville, Jim Holcomb and his wife Jackie of Bristol; and one daughter, Sue Hincks and her husband Andy of New Hartford. He also leaves 14 grandchildren - Steve, Caroline, and Tyreck Hincks; and Mikayla, William (Will) IV, Paul, Scott, Robert, Matthew, Juliana, Morgan, Shamus, Jacob, and Victoria Holcomb; one great-grandson Paul Holcomb, Jr. and Paul's mother Melissa. The oldest of seven children he leaves behind his five sisters - Kathy DiBenedetto and her husband Tito of Middletown, Tricia Rice and her husband Dewey of Oregon, Mary Vachon of Rocky Hill, Betty Balchazard and her husband Roy of Massachusetts, and Laurie Holcomb of Plainville; he was predeceased by his brother, Plainvillepolice officer Robert Holcomb who was killed in the line of duty in 1977. Bill was dedicated to his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Robert M. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, June 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville, CT. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 355 Camp Street, Forestville, CT followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Interment will be in the Gloria Dei Memorial Garden at a later date.

     Michael S. Holcombe was born on 31 December 1963. He was the son of William George Holcombe Jr. and Mary Sue Lynn Taylor. Michael S. Holcombe married Dorothy L. Cerone on 15 June 1991 at Plainville, Hartford Co., CT. Michael S. Holcombe died on 6 August 2023 at age 59.

From an obituary and news article in the Hartford Courant, 9 August, 2023:

Michael S. Holcomb, 59 of Bristol, passed away tragically while doing what he loved on August 6, 2023. A devoted father, son, brother and friend, his life was a testament to the power of hard work, generosity and indomitable super-human spirit.

Holcomb was seriously injured last Wednesday while cutting trees on Hollyberry Lane, police said. The hydraulic pole - known as a boom - on the bucket truck Holcomb was in failed, causing him to fall to the ground at about 9 a.m. Holcomb suffered serious head trauma and was taken toan area hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition. He died from his injuries Sunday.

Mike was a man of many talents and passions, but above all, he was a man of integrity. Raised and educated in the Plainville, he developed a strong work ethic that would guide him throughout his life as he carried on the many generations of his family's business Holcomb Tree Inc. He was a passionate arborist with affection for nature that spanned all four seasons. His love for the outdoors was not limited to his work; it was his playground and his sanctuary where he enjoyed hiking, biking, and riding his motorcycle. Evidence of his kind and gentle spirit, Mike was an animal lover who fed and cared for all of the wildlife in his yard, and shared a mutual admiration for his two adored cats. He was also an avid reader and pop culture enthusiast, always ready with a fascinating fact or a compelling story to share and chuckle about. Among his many talents, Mike had a knack for baking. He loved making baked goods for others to enjoy, a simple act of love that brought joy to those around him. He was a good neighbor and friend, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. He had a tough, strong exterior but beneath that was a sentimental and sensitive soul that was as selfless and generous as they come. A man who lived simply and loved unconditionally, he was a devoted dad who created priceless memories for his two adored children, most especially on holidays and special occasions that were always filled with laughter, love, baked goods and yes, a piñata. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Mike was a success beyond measure; truly one of a kind who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves his children who were his world, Juliana (Holcomb) Bilodeau and her husband Jon and Matthew Holcomb; his mother, Sue (Taylor) Holcomb; his brothers, William (Bill) Holcomb III and his wife Debbie, David Holcomb and his wife Kelly, Tim Holcomb, and Jim Holcomb and his wife Hillary; his sister Sue Hincks and her husband Andy; his step-mother, Valerie Holcomb; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; along with countless friends. He was predeceased by his father, William Holcomb, Jr and his high school sweetheart and the mother of his children, Dorothy Holcomb.

     Fredrick William Rodgers was born on 27 March 1892 at Denver, Arapahoe Co., CO.¹ He was the son of George S. Rodgers and Laura A. Voogt.¹ Fredrick William Rodgers married Lydia Elizabeha Hoener in October 1915 at St. Louis, MO.¹ Fredrick William Rodgers died on 8 October 1941 at Portland, Multnomah Co., OR, at age 49.¹

     Helen Jewett Sullivan was born on 14 December 1846 at Quincy, Hancock Co., IL. She was the daughter of Henry V. Sullivan and Adelaide Elizabeth Hayes.

     Capt. Howland Marcy married Jemima Phelps, daughter of Lieut. Isaac Phelps and Jemima Holcombe.¹ Capt. Howland Marcy was born on 17 August 1767 at Woodstock, Windham Co., CT.¹

     Frances Gunilda Adams was born on 12 April 1838 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. She was the daughter of Gaius Adams and Frances Sophia Brown.

     Marcus Hayward Mitchell was the son of Rotheus Mitchell and Hepzibh Hayward.¹ Marcus Hayward Mitchell married Lois Noyes.¹

     Robert S. Taft was born on 20 October 1844 at West Bloomfield, NY. He was the son of Alfred S. Taft and Laura Hayes Brown. Robert S. Taft died on 20 December 1847 at West Bloomfield, NY, at age 3.

     Allan Lanphere married Marie Louise Mitchell, daughter of Marcus Hayward Mitchell and Lois Noyes.¹
