     Ettie Virginei Brown was born circa 1854 at Williamsville, Erie Co., NY.¹ She was the daughter of Edward Augustus Brown and Sue D. Witroer.¹

     Benajah Phelps was baptized on 10 July 1774 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Lieut. Isaac Phelps and Jemima Holcombe.¹ Benajah Phelps died probably 8 Sep 1775.¹

     Maria P. Taft was born on 25 February 1825 at West Bloomfield, NY. She married Richmond Simmons Hayes, son of Harold Hayes and Maria Simmons, on 6 June 1848 at West Bloomfield, NY.

     James R. Holcombe was born on 22 February 1922 at Bristol, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Samuel George Holcombe and Amy Gould.¹ James R. Holcombe married Theresa Madey. James R. Holcombe died on 19 January 2013 at Connecticut Veteran's Home, Rocky Hill, CT, at age 90. He was buried on 26 January 2013 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Plainville, Hartford Co., CT.²

James R. Holcomb, Sr., 91, of Rocky Hill, CT and formerly of New Britain, CT, passed away peacefully, Saturday (January 19, 2013) at the John L. Levitow Healthcare Facility, located at the State of Connecticut Veterans' Home in Rocky Hill. James was born in Bristol, CT, February 22, 1922 and was the son of the late Samuel and Amy (Gould) Holcomb.
As a young man, he enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and worked as a tractor operator to clear fire lines and make truck trails in the State Forests. After the War, James worked as a painter and later for Guida Seibert Dairy until his retirement at age 63. His favorite pastime was golf and making and repairing golf clubs. James was a proud and decorated World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps from August 1942 to December 1945. He fought in the Asiatic Pacific at Cape Gloucester, Peleliu and Okinawa. James was also a member of the Hardware City Detachment - Marine Corps League.
James is survived by his son James R. Holcomb, Jr. of Florida, his daughter, Elaine A. Stepensky and her husband Victor of Rocky Hill, CT, his grandchildren, Daphne Jernigan and her husband Anthony, Robbie Holcomb, Lydia Holcomb, Casey Holcomb, Roger Leardi and his wife Nancy, Thomas Leardi and his wife Shannon, Lynn Lockwood and her husband Shawn, his twelve great grandchildren, his three sisters-in-law, Connie Madey, Marrianne Madey and Madeline Kinney and many nieces and nephews. In addition, James was blessed with loving step-grandchildren and their extended families: Kathy Karalus, Anthony and Holly Stepensky and Mary Ann and Peter Moneta. James was predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Theresa (Madey) Holcomb, his brother, William G. Holcomb, his sister-in-law Katherine Holcomb, his three brothers-in-law William and Robert Madey and Patrick Kinney.
Calling hours for Mr. Holcomb will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Paul A. Shaker / Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) right off exit - one mile down on right. The Hardware City Detachment - Marine Corps League will hold a service Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. with full military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Farmington Avenue, Plainville, CT. The American Flag will be presented to Mr. Holcomb's daughter, Elaine. The family of James would like to thank the entire staff at the VA Hospital for their most extraordinary care and compassion that was provided during his stay.      May Elizabeth Southworth was born on 1 May 1851 at Albion, Calhoun Co., MI. She was the daughter of Lambert S. Southworth and Ellen Augusta Howland.

     Peter Henry Fonda was born on 23 February 1940 at New York City, NY.¹ He was the son of Henry Jaynes Fonda and Frances Ford Seymour.¹

     Margaret Atherton was born on 30 April 1638 at Dorchester, Suffolk Co., MA.¹ She was the daughter of Humphrey Atherton and Mary Wales.¹ Margaret Atherton married James Trowbridge, son of Thomas Trowbridge and Elizabeth Marshall, on 30 December 1659 at Dorchester, Suffolk Co., MA.¹ Margaret Atherton died on 17 August 1672 at Newton, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 34.¹

     Jesse Phelps was born circa 1758.¹ He was the son of Lieut. Isaac Phelps and Jemima Holcombe.¹ Jesse Phelps married Catherine (?)¹ Jesse Phelps died on 10 January 1809 at Geauga Co., OH.¹

     Margaret Jackson was born on 20 June 1649 at Newton, Middlesex Co., MA.¹ She married James Trowbridge, son of Thomas Trowbridge and Elizabeth Marshall, on 30 January 1674 at Newton, Middlesex Co., MA.¹ Margaret Jackson died on 16 September 1727 at age 78.¹

     Joseph Plumb was born on 27 June 1791 at Paris, Oneida Co., NY. He married Elizabeth Adelaide Hayes, daughter of Pliny Hayes and Lucretia Jewett, on 10 May 1854 at Livonia, Livingston Co., NY.

     Mary White was born say 1679. She married Thomas Trowbridge, son of James Trowbridge and Margaret Jackson, in 1701 at Roxbury, MA.¹

     Mehetabel Eaton was born on 12 February 1706/7 at Framingham, MA.¹ She married John Trowbridge, son of Thomas Trowbridge and Mary White, in 1725 at Framingham, MA.¹ Mehetabel Eaton died on 24 March 1777 at Framingham, MA, at age 70.¹

     David Bull married Sarah Ashley.¹

     Mary Trowbridge married Capt. Amos Gates.¹ Mary Trowbridge was born on 27 July 1728 at Framingham, MA.¹ She was the daughter of John Trowbridge and Mehetabel Eaton.¹

     Ruth Gates was born on 12 February 1768. She was the daughter of Capt. Amos Gates and Mary Trowbridge. Ruth Gates married Ebenezer Hemenway on 1 June 1786. Ruth Gates died on 18 October 1854 at age 86.

     Hiram Hill was born in 1799.¹ He was the son of Caleb Hill and Cynthia Strong.¹

     Lois Richardson was born on 7 April 1803 at NH. She married Jesse Hemingway, son of Ebenezer Hemenway and Ruth Gates, on 1 July 1827 at NH. Lois Richardson died on 8 August 1888 at MI at age 85.

     Gaius Adams was born on 6 November 1812 at East Bloomfield, NY. He married Frances Sophia Brown, daughter of Theodore Brown and Emma Lucretia Hayes, on 18 February 1836 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY.

     Delia Ann Randall was born circa 1840. She married Frank Smith Hemingway, son of Jesse Hemingway and Lois Richardson, on 11 September 1862. Delia Ann Randall died on 12 February 1918 at MN.

     Chester Thomas Wells was born on 5 December 1841.¹ He was the son of Rev. George Wells and Judith S. Bell.¹ Chester Thomas Wells died after 1850.¹

     Carrie May Salisbury was born on 9 November 1873 at MN. She married Louis Randall Hemingway, son of Frank Smith Hemingway and Delia Ann Randall, on 25 January 1892 at MN. Carrie May Salisbury died on 29 October 1962 at MN at age 88.

     Heman A. Canfield was born on 25 January 1816 at West Bloomfield, NY. He married Amanda Gunilda Brown, daughter of Theodore Brown and Emma Lucretia Hayes, on 16 October 1838 at West Bloomfield, NY.

     Hazel Brown married Frank Hemingway, son of Louis Randall Hemingway and Carrie May Salisbury.

     Ramona Hemingway was the daughter of Frank Hemingway and Hazel Brown. Ramona Hemingway married Kenneth Crawford.

     Henry Hayes was born on 19 March 1792 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Pliny Hayes and Lucretia Jewett. Henry Hayes married Sofronia Cottle on 28 October 1821 at Troy, MO.

     Jennifer Walker married Daniel Crawford, son of Kenneth Crawford and Ramona Hemingway.

     Henry Titus Canfield was born on 17 July 1841 at Chesterfield, Fulton Co., OH. He was the son of Heman A. Canfield and Amanda Gunilda Brown.

     Cynthia Ann Crawford was born on 20 February 1966 at DeKalb, DeKalb Co., IL. She was the daughter of Daniel Crawford and Jennifer Walker.

     J. Wilder Taylor was born on 6 September 1810 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. He married Emma Lucretia Brown, daughter of Theodore Brown and Emma Lucretia Hayes, on 26 March 1845 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY.

     Temperance Foote was born in 1787 at Bloomfiield, PA.¹ She was the daughter of Luther Foote and Temperance Hayes.¹

     James Brainard Taylor was born on 11 May 1846 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. He was the son of J. Wilder Taylor and Emma Lucretia Brown.

     Polly Burton was born on 28 May 1795.¹ She was the daughter of David Burton.¹ Polly Burton married Calvin Foote, son of Luther Foote and Temperance Hayes, on 6 November 1812.¹ Polly Burton died on 23 June 1867 at Millcreek, Erie Co., PA, at age 72.¹

     Henry Martyn Brown was born on 9 February 1829 at Bristol, Ontario Co., NY. He was the son of Theodore Brown and Emma Lucretia Hayes.

     Lurana Pinney married Roswell Skinner on 16 August 1803 at East Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Lurana Pinney died in 1818; at age 44.

     Robert Taft Hayes was born on 5 January 1852 at Richmond, Ontario Co., NY. He was the son of Richmond Simmons Hayes and Maria P. Taft.

     Mary (?) married Roswell Skinner. Mary (?) died in 1800; at age 45.

     Alice Holcombe was born circa 1863 at NY.¹ She was the daughter of Ezra Holcombe and Celia Haight.¹

     Caleb Hill was born in 1813.¹ He was the son of Caleb Hill and Cynthia Strong.¹

     Mary Allen was born on 22 July 1722 at Medway, Norfolk Co., MA.² She married Abner Rawson, son of Edmund Rawson and Elizabeth Hayward, on 17 May 1745 at Medway, Norfolk Co., MA.¹ Mary Allen died on 19 August 1790 at Uxbridge, Worcester Co., MA, at age 68.³
