Died at his home in this city, on last Sunday morning, 10:30 o'clock, of old age. Mr. Gerard Holcomb, father of Mr. Frank Holcomb, of Portland, who is well known by many citizens; and grandfather of Mrs. W. B. Dillard of this city.
Deceased was born Oct. 18th, 1830 at Panton, Vermont. He served throughout the Civil War, in a regiment from his native state; and moved to the state of Oregon, about twenty years ago.
His funeral was conducted from the Congregational Church, in this city, at 1 o'clock p. m., on last Monday, the Rev. Samuel G. Roper of Houlton officiating. The interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Warren.
He is actually buried at the Bayview Cemetery, Lot 124.2, Warren, Columbia Co., Oregon. He served in the 14th Regiment, Vermont Infantry
