     Carroll Clifford was born on 19 March 1897 at LaGrange, Oldham Co, KY. Carroll Clifford was the child of Charles Clifford and Maud Seaver.

     Ruth Clifford was born on 23 November 1899 at LaGrange, Oldham Co, KY. She was the daughter of Charles Clifford and Maud Seaver.

     Wyatt Clifford was born on 13 May 1902 at LaGrange, Oldham Co, KY. He was the son of Charles Clifford and Maud Seaver. Wyatt Clifford died on 19 June 1909 at age 7.

     Russell Clifford was born on 14 April 1903 at LaGrange, Oldham Co, KY. He was the son of Charles Clifford and Maud Seaver.

     Bentley Owen Clifford was born on 17 September 1909 at LaGrange, Oldham Co, KY. He was the son of Charles Clifford and Maud Seaver.

     Oran Davis Seaver was born on 1 June 1921. He was the son of Charles C. Seaver and Nola Morgan.

     Fern Foster was the daughter of Allen Foster and Margaret (?) Fern Foster married Arthur Francis Seaver, son of George Washington Seaver and Rosa Ella Foster, on 13 October 1907.

     Leland Seaver was born on 22 May 1909. He was the son of Arthur Francis Seaver and Fern Foster.

     Bercell Warman Seaver was born on 15 September 1910. He was the son of Ray Jones Seaver and Hatty Warman.

     Maxwell Foster Seaver was born on 23 July 1914. He was the son of Ray Jones Seaver and Hatty Warman.

     Wildene Reid Seaver was born on 10 May 1918. She was the daughter of Ray Jones Seaver and Hatty Warman.

     Anastasia graduated from State Normal College and taught music, being supervisor in public schools of Olyphant. Anastasia Barbara Dempsey was born on 29 August 1896. She was the daughter of Patrick Francis Dempsey and Bridget Galligher. Anastasia Barbara Dempsey married Leslie Foster Seaver, son of George Washington Seaver and Rosa Ella Foster, on 25 June 1919.

     Mary Jane Seaver was born on 6 May 1921. She was the daughter of Leslie Foster Seaver and Anastasia Barbara Dempsey.

     Charles served in the US Marines in ghe 1st World War. Charles Rafferty was born on 19 January 1900. He married Ruth Alice Seaver, daughter of George Washington Seaver and Rosa Ella Foster, on 28 January 1922.

     Charles Rafferty II was the son of Charles Rafferty and Ruth Alice Seaver.

     Lucy Elizabeth Allen was born on 29 November 1817 at Bradford Co., PA.¹ Lucy Elizabeth Allen was also known as Betsey Elizabeth Allen.² She married Horace Stone Holcombe, son of Sterling Holcombe and Betsey Stone, on 15 February 1842 at Bradford Co., PA.³ Lucy Elizabeth Allen died on 18 November 1897 at Atwood, Rawlins Co., KS, at age 79.¹ She was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah, Page Co., IA.¹

     Isaac Otis was born on 26 September 1798 at Saratoga Springs, Saratoga Co., NY. He married Caroline Abigail Curtiss, daughter of Gideon Curtis and Ruth Day, on 25 January 1827 at Homer, Cortland Co., NY. Isaac Otis died on 12 March 1853 at Prairieville, Barry Co., NY, at age 54.

     Thomas Corwin Holcombe was born on 29 July 1847 at Elmira, Bradford Co., PA. He was the son of Horace Stone Holcombe and Lucy Elizabeth Allen. Thomas Corwin Holcombe died on 29 January 1873 at age 25.

     In McPherson, page 143.1, Selia is listed and is actually Lelia Helen Holcombe. Lelia Helen Holcombe was born on 6 August 1845 at Elmira, Bradford Co., PA. She was the daughter of Horace Stone Holcombe and Lucy Elizabeth Allen. Lelia Helen Holcombe died on 27 May 1874 at age 28.

     Lucy Emma Holcombe was born on 29 October 1852 at Elmira, Bradford Co., PA. She was the daughter of Horace Stone Holcombe and Lucy Elizabeth Allen. Lucy Emma Holcombe died on 16 January 1895 at age 42.

     Francis Murry Holcombe was born on 17 March 1856 at Elmira, Bradford Co., PA. He was the son of Horace Stone Holcombe and Lucy Elizabeth Allen. Francis Murry Holcombe died on 4 September 1867 at age 11.

     Isaac Newton Holcombe was born on 29 April 1843 at Elmira, Bradford Co., PA.¹ He was the son of Horace Stone Holcombe and Lucy Elizabeth Allen. Isaac Newton Holcombe married Mary Bojanquit Matteson, daughter of Norman Judson Mathews and Lucy Wright, on 23 April 1868 at Prophetstown, Whiteside Co., IL.¹ Isaac Newton Holcombe died on 3 January 1916 at Atwood, Rawlins Co., KS, at age 72.¹ He was buried on 5 January 1916 at Atwood Cemetery, Atwood, Rawlins Co., KS.^1,2

When Isaac was thirteen his parents moved from Elmira, Penn. to Neoponsett, Ill. where he lived until he joined the Civil War in Aug. 1861.


Isaac joined Company I, 27th Ill. Volunteer Infantry when he was eighteen years old. He was wounded at the battle of Murfreesboro, 31 December 1862, laying all night on the battlefield and was nearly frozen when help reached him. He was honorably discharged in Sept. 1864. Isaac lived with his parents from the fall of 1864 till 1868. At this time he was a traveling book agent.


Mary moved with her parents when she was nine years old from New York to Whiteside Co., Ill. whee she received her schooling. Later she taught seveal terms of school there.


In 1870 they moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, and build the first house in that city.


Isaac N. and Mary B. were enumerated in the 1885 Washington, Page Co., IA, state census. They were both 49. Children in the household were Louie 12, Charles 10, Bertie B. 6, Edith A. 5, Royal N. 3, James 2, and Effie.
In the spring of 1886 the family came by emigrant train to Oberlin, KS, and then to a homestead five miles southeast of Atwood. Isaac secured homestead rights to the SE of Sec. 25, and the E/2SW, W/2SE of Sec. 24, Twp 3 South, Range 33 West and Mary had rights to the E/2NW and E/2SW Sec. 25, Twp. 3 South, Range 33 West of the 6th P.M.


Near the turn of the century, Atwood and Blakeman vied for the county seat and quite a few houses were moved from Atwood to Blakeman. Isaac brought a shotgun to Fred Luther, a tinsmith, for repair. Tthis store was across the street north of the theater. To be sure it was fixed, Isaac stepped out back of the store and fired the gun. The sheriff accused him of trying to start a shooting feud between Atwood and Blakeman, and it took Isaac and Fred both to convince the sheriff differently.


After selling his farm to Herman Fikan, Isaac and Mary retired to Atwood where he purchased a home on the hill in northeast Atwood now a part of Tindell's Addition. Then it was known as "Pension Hill" as many Civil War veterans with pensions build there. After Isaac's death Mary moved closer to the business district; later she lived with her daughter, Louis Ellen Spear in Keystone, Neb. After she suffered a stroke she returned to Atwood and died at the home of her son, William Horace, in Atwood.

     Mary Bojanquit Matteson was born on 5 November 1843 at Herkimer Co., NY. She was the daughter of Norman Judson Mathews and Lucy Wright. Mary Bojanquit Matteson married Isaac Newton Holcombe, son of Horace Stone Holcombe and Lucy Elizabeth Allen, on 23 April 1868 at Prophetstown, Whiteside Co., IL.¹ Mary Bojanquit Matteson died on 30 March 1923 at Atwood, Rawlins Co., KS, at age 79.² She was buried at Atwood Cemetery, Atwood, Rawlins Co., KS.³

     Theodore Frances Holcombe was born on 8 June 1869 at Prophetstown, Whiteside Co., IL. He was the son of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. Theodore Frances Holcombe died on 3 March 1873 at age 3. He was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah, Page Co., IA.¹

     Charles Ingersol Holcombe was born on 11 September 1874 at Shenandoah, Page Co., IA. He was the son of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. Charles Ingersol Holcombe married Mary Ross Matthews, daughter of William Alexander Matthews and Caroline Edingber Houston, on 25 November 1896 at Beaver City, NE. Charles Ingersol Holcombe died on 7 April 1934 at age 59. He was buried on 12 April 1934 at Teton Cemetary, Teton City, Fremont Co., ID.¹

     Alice Evalne Holcombe was born on 11 February 1871 at Shenandoah, Page Co., IA.¹ She was the daughter of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. Alice Evalne Holcombe died on 20 March 1876 at Shenandoah, Page Co., IA, at age 5.¹ She was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah, Page Co., IA.^1,2

     Louise Ellen Holcombe was born on 18 August 1872 at Shenandoah, Page Co., IA. She was the daughter of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. Louise Ellen Holcombe married William Thomas Spear.¹ Louise Ellen Holcombe died on 15 August 1968 at Ogallala, Keith Co., NE, at age 95.² She was buried at Paxton Cemetery, Paxton, Keith Co., NE.³

     Burton Blaine Holcombe was born on 2 June 1876 at Shenandoah, Page Co., IA. He was the son of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. Burton Blaine Holcombe died on 5 June 1965 at NE at age 89.

     Edith Addie Holcombe was born on 14 April 1878 at Northboro, Page Co., IA. She was the daughter of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. Edith Addie Holcombe died on 25 February 1975 at North Platte, Lincoln Co., NE, at age 96. She was buried on 28 February 1975 at North Platte Cemetery, North Platte, Lincoln Co., NE.¹

     Royal Newton Holcombe was born on 3 July 1879 at Northboro, Page Co., IA. He was the son of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. Royal Newton Holcombe died on 17 May 1960 at Saint Anthony, Fremont Co., ID, at age 80.¹ He was buried at Riverview Cemetery, Saint Anthony, Fremont Co., ID.¹

     James Garfield Holcombe was born on 5 April 1881 at Northboro, Page Co., IA. He was the son of Isaac Newton Holcombe and Mary Bojanquit Matteson. James Garfield Holcombe died on 4 August 1941 at NE at age 60. He was buried at Haigler Cemetery, Haigler, Dundy Co., NE.¹
