Sterling was a member of Washington Lodge #70 A.F. & A.M., Sphinx Temple AAONMS, Gray Dickinson Post #59 American Legion and was a former member of the Bradley Field Kiwanis Club.
Besides his wife Esther he leaves three sons, John S. Viets and his wife Dorothy of Monroe, Dr. Douglas H. Viets and his wife Priscilla of Suffield, and Sterling N. Viets and his wife Pamela of Windsor; three granddaughters, Ann Holm, Alison Viets, and Heather Viets; a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Holm; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Johnston of Columbia.

Sterling Norman Viets, 69, of Key Largo, FL, beloved husband of Pamela (Kuszaj) Viets, passed away suddenly, Sunday, July 19, 2020.
Born in Hartford, son of the late Sterling H. and Esther (Olsen) Viets, he was raised in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1969 and received his BA from Nasson College in ME. Growing up in Windsor, he worked on the Brown Tobacco Farm from the age of 14 as did so many Windsor young men. After college, he worked for an agricultural supply company in WI for several years before joining his father in the family company, Rainbow Bus, where he eventually assumed leadership after his father's death. Rainbow Bus provided school transportation for the towns of Windsor, East Granby, and CREC until his retirement in 2018. Sterling was active in the Windsor community and served as an officer for the Windsor Historical Society for many years, a member of the Windsor Club, Past President of the CT School Bus Operators Association, and a social member of both St. Casimir's Lithuanian Society and the Loyal Order of Moose in Thompsonville. Masonry was Sterling's passion and he served as Past Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge # 70 AF & AM; as a 33rd Degree member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite, member of Putnam Lodge # 46 AF & AM, South Woodstock, Hartford Evergreen Lodge # 88 AF & AM, South Windsor, Wolcott Council #1 R & SM, East Hartford, St. Andrews Conclave, Hartford, Washington Commandery # 1 Knights Templar, East Hartford, Pythagoras Chapter # 17 RAM, East Hartford, and Red Cross of Constantine, AASR Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, USA, Valley of Hartford. Ronald Neri Loomis, 82, of Dedham, Massachusetts, formerly of New London, CT and Ithaca, NY, died peacefully, Saturday, September 26, 2020, after a brief battle with late stage prostate cancer. Ron was born in New Britain, CT. He was the son of the late Thomas B. Loomis, and Rena N. Loomis. He attended the University of Connecticut and did graduate work at the University of Minnesota. Ron was the past Director of University Unions and Activities at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he lived and worked for 25 years. He was also the past president of the Cult Awareness Network. Ron was active in the College Bowl and ACUI (Association of College Unions International) while working at Cornell University, Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, and The University of Wisconsin at Madison. Ron was a caring and social man who enjoyed being with friends and family. He was easy going and willing to help anyone in need. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all sporting events. Watching in person events, including those of family and friends or on TV, the game's outcome was always "amazing". Later in his life he became an avid hot air balloon enthusiast, riding and chase crewing regularly. He immensely enjoyed taking in a good sunset. He is survived by his children, Cathy Loomis Skahill, of Springfield, PA, Christine Loomis, of Randolph, MA, Thomas Loomis, of Windham, NH, and Stephen Loomis, of Orleans, MA. Ron also had 7 grandchildren: Sean, Mallory, Brandan, Chula, Jordan, Briana and Leighton.

Born in Hartford on January 22, 1934, Leon, known best as Mike, was the son of the late Leon H. Viets, Sr and Mildred (Hamilton) Viets. He was a lifelong resident of East Granby. He was an Operating Engineer for most of his career in construction, he served on the East Granby Volunteer Fire Department including a term as the Assistant Fire Chief and currently was an honorary member. He owned three businesses, L.H. Viets Trucking, Miller & Viets Paving, and Miller & Viets Arctic Cat. He was a racing enthusiast involved with local teams including his own. He was a member of the East Granby Historical Society and Friendship Club. He was a member of Valley Lodge #36 in Simsbury and Melha Temple Shrine in Springfield, MA. Leon was a lifelong member of East Granby Congregational Church. In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, he leaves four children: Michael Viets, Scott Viets and his wife Robin, Timothy Viets and his wife Marla, and Kelly Gibson and her husband Blake; as well as eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers; and a sister. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 4-7 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
