     Abel Goddard was the son of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe. Abel Goddard died in 1780.

     Martin Goddard was the son of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe.

     Sarah Goddard was the daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe. Sarah Goddard married John Griffin, son of Matthew Griffin and Hannah Lamson. Sarah Goddard died in 1825.

     John Griffin married Sarah Goddard, daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe. John Griffin was born in 1752. He was the son of Matthew Griffin and Hannah Lamson. John Griffin died in 1816.

     Ruth Goddard was the daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe.

     Martha Goddard was the daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe.

     Rhoda Goddard was born in 1757. She was the daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe. Rhoda Goddard married Thomas Buckland Gillett, son of Othniel Gillett and Eunice (?), in 1774. Rhoda Goddard died in 1798.

     Thomas Buckland Gillett was born circa 1753 at Salmon Brook (now Granby), Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Othniel Gillett and Eunice (?) Thomas Buckland Gillett married Rhoda Goddard, daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe, in 1774. Thomas Buckland Gillett died on 7 June 1820.

     Zalotha Goddard was the daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe. Zalotha Goddard was also known as Talitha Goddard. She married Ephraim Gillett, son of Othniel Gillett and Eunice (?). Zalotha Goddard died after 1786.¹

     Ephraim Gillett married Zalotha Goddard, daughter of Abel Goddard and Rebecca Holcombe. Ephraim Gillett was born circa 1760 at Salmon Brook (now Granby), Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Othniel Gillett and Eunice (?)

     Ashel Gross was born in 1725. He was the son of Gershom Gross and Elizabeth Holcombe.

     Isaac Gross was the son of Gershom Gross and Elizabeth Holcombe. Isaac Gross married Rebecca Dickinson. Isaac Gross died in 1760.

     Rebecca Dickinson married Isaac Gross, son of Gershom Gross and Elizabeth Holcombe.

     Samuel Adams was the son of George Adams and Frances (?) Samuel may have been married 3 times, Elizabeth Hill, daughter of Luke, Deborah Bartlett Gillet in 1694 and Elizabeth Reed in 1713.

     Frances may be Frances TAYLOR. George Adams died in 1696 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.

     Jonathan Fowler was born on 19 October 1685.¹ He was the son of Samuel Fowler and Abigail Brown.¹ Jonathan Fowler married Catherine Marshall on 11 February 1720/21. Jonathan Fowler died on 13 September 1774 at age 88.

     Catherine Marshall married Jonathan Fowler, son of Samuel Fowler and Abigail Brown, on 11 February 1720/21. Catherine Marshall died on 11 May 1731.

     Capt. Charles Case was born on 1 July 1723 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Capt. Charles Case married Phoebe Griswold, daughter of Shubael Griswold and Phebe Cornish, before 1748.³ Capt. Charles Case died on 17 October 1808 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 85.³ He was buried at Hopmeadow Cemetery, Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

(Charles Case) Charles, the third son of John, was born in his father's home at Terry's Plain in Simsbury. He lived an dworked all his life in Simsbury except for some time spent away on military duty."

"Charles apparently served in military action during the French and Indian War which broke out in 1756 and acheived the rank of Captain."

"It is possible that Charles served in the Revolutinary War, although there is no clear verification of his participation and no record that he made an application for a veteran's pension. This, however, is not proof that he did not serve, since a majority of the people at Simsbury, including both veterans and civilians, were opposed to any pensions or other rewards for service in the war."

Despite owning much real property during his lifetime, "Charles was eighty years old in 1803 and apparently destitute. He died on October 17, 1808, at the age of eighty-five and, as far as is kkown, he left no will or inventory of personal property. He apparently had already given his home lot to his son, shubael, with whom he had lived druing the last years of his life."

"Charles lived a long life and he saw many momentous changes both inSimsbury and in the nation. He witnessed the defeat of the French in Canada and the removal of that trheat from the north. He also saw the separation of the colonies from England and the birth of a new nation. He was middle-aged when the industrial revolution began, but lived to hear about the first steam engines and the successful voyage of the first steamboat on the Connecticut River. He probably knew of John Fitch, born in East Windsor, fifteen miles east of simsbury, who conducted the first successful steam-powered voyage on August 22, 1787. Charles was still alive in 1807 when Fulton made his memorial run up the Hudson river. he may also have known of Eli Whitney, living a few miles away, who constructed the first cotton gin in 1793."

"Close at home, the area near Salmon Brook and Turkey Hill in the northern part of town became the separate community of Granby. In 1798, he also saw the first mail route established between Hartford and Simsbury."

Ruth Cost Duncan cites the Simsbury Vital Records. The burials of Charles and his wife, in the Hopmeadow Cemetery in Simsbury, were paid for by the town. Charles was a captain in the Revolutionary War.

     Abigail Case was born on 10 September 1725 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Abigail Case married Jonathan Case Jr., son of Capt. Jonathan Case and Mary Beaman, on 25 September 1746 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Abigail Case died on 28 August 1779 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 53.

     Jonathan Case Jr. was born on 24 November 1723. He was the son of Capt. Jonathan Case and Mary Beaman. Jonathan Case Jr. married Abigail Case, daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey, on 25 September 1746 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Jonathan Case Jr. married Judith Humphrey, daughter of Charles Humphrey and Hepzibah Pettibone. Jonathan Case Jr. died on 17 May 1805 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 81.

     Mary Case was born on 29 December 1727 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Mary Case married Samuel Adams, son of Samuel Adams and Elizabeth Reed, on 25 September 1746 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Mary Case died in September 1784 at age 56.

     Lucy Case was also known as Lucia Case. She was born on 17 October 1732 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Lucy Case married Lt. William Wilcox, son of Deacon William Willcockson and Thankful Adams. Lucy Case died in 1805.²

     Lt. William Wilcox was also known as Lt. William Willcockson. He was born on 1 April 1728. He was the son of Deacon William Willcockson and Thankful Adams.² Lt. William Wilcox married Lucy Case, daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Lt. William Wilcox died in 1775.

William served from Simsbury as lieutenant at the Lexington Alarm.

     Martha Case was born on 31 July 1735 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Martha Case married Thomas Barber III, son of Lt. Thomas Barber and Mercy Case, on 16 July 1752 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Martha Case died on 29 March 1809 at age 73.

     Thomas Barber III was born on 5 September 1728 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lt. Thomas Barber and Mercy Case. Thomas Barber III married Martha Case, daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey, on 16 July 1752 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Thomas Barber III died on 8 January 1794 at Wyoming, PA, at age 65. He was buried at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Capt. Job Case was born on 3 June 1737 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Capt. Job Case married Joanna Wilcox, daughter of Amos Wilcox and Joanna Hillyer, in 1757 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Capt. Job Case died on 6 May 1798 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 60. He was buried at Hopmeadow Cemetery, Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

Job served with Capt. Jonathan Pettibone's co. of Militia, Campaign of 1757 to Fort Edward in the French and Indian War.

     Joanna Wilcox was born on 26 May 1740 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Amos Wilcox and Joanna Hillyer.¹ Joanna Wilcox married Capt. Job Case, son of John Case and Abigail Humphrey, in 1757 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Joanna Wilcox died on 17 December 1812 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 72. She was buried at Hopmeadow Cemetery, Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Lydia Case was born on 1 September 1741 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Lydia Case married Jonathan Pinney, son of Capt. Abraham Pinney and Elizabeth Butler. Lydia Case died on 25 August 1796 at age 54.

     Jonathan Pinney was baptized on 19 March 1738. He was the son of Capt. Abraham Pinney and Elizabeth Butler. Jonathan Pinney married Lydia Case, daughter of John Case and Abigail Humphrey. Jonathan Pinney married Susannah (?) on 29 December 1798. Jonathan Pinney died on 10 July 1813 at age 75.

     Susannah (?) married Jonathan Pinney, son of Capt. Abraham Pinney and Elizabeth Butler, on 29 December 1798.

     Settled in Scotland, Simsbury, CT. Capt. Abraham Pinney was born in February 1709. He was the son of Nathaniel Pinney and Martha Thrall. Capt. Abraham Pinney married Elizabeth Butler, daughter of Jonathan Butler and Mary Easton, in 1734. Capt. Abraham Pinney died on 12 September 1780 at age 71.

     Elizabeth Butler was born in 1709. She was the daughter of Jonathan Butler and Mary Easton. Elizabeth Butler married Capt. Abraham Pinney, son of Nathaniel Pinney and Martha Thrall, in 1734. Elizabeth Butler died in 1760.

     Nathaniel Pinney was born on 11 May 1671 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Nathaniel Pinney and Sarah Griswold. Nathaniel Pinney married Martha Thrall, daughter of Timothy Thrall and Deborah Gunn, on 21 September 1693 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Nathaniel Pinney died on 1 January 1764 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 92.

Nathaniel was a sergeant as early as 1711, and is mentioned at a meeting of the governor and Council at New Haven, Conn., on May 22, 1712, in company with Captain Moses Dimon and Roger Wolcott, reporting certain amounts due to varius individuals for services in the military expedition.

     Martha Thrall was born on 31 May 1673. She was the daughter of Timothy Thrall and Deborah Gunn. Martha Thrall married Nathaniel Pinney, son of Nathaniel Pinney and Sarah Griswold, on 21 September 1693 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     Nathaniel Pinney was born in December 1640 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Humphrey Pinney and Mary Hull. Nathaniel Pinney was baptized on 2 January 1641 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He married Sarah Griswold, daughter of Edward Griswold and Margaret (?), on 21 July 1670 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.³ Nathaniel Pinney died on 7 August 1676 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 35.

He is mentioned in the town records as having been paid for "setting in the yard," i.e., doing guard or sentinel duty in the meeting-house yard during divine services.

     Humphrey Pinney was baptized on 20 November 1605.³ He was the son of John Pinney and Johanna (?) Humphrey Pinney married Mary Hull. Humphrey Pinney died on 20 August 1683 at age 77.

Humphrey was originally thought to have come to America in the Mary and John with the Rev. Mr. Warham's company; 1630. However, Robert Charles Anderson and Judith L. Osborn have challenged that, finding that he most likely arrived on the ship Thunder in July 1633.³


Humprey Pinney appears in the Massachusetts Freemen List on 14 May 1634 even though he had attained his majority by 1630. ³


Edmond Pinney's (Humprey's uncle) will was dated 7 December 1631 and proved 7 February 1631/02. In it he named Humprey as executor. Humprey was therefore likely still in England during this time. ³


Humphrey's father, John, made a will dated 5 April 1632 that gave no indication that Humphrey was absent. ³


The very first record of Humphrey that we see in Massachusetts Bay is as a grantee of 4 acres at Dorchester Neck on 5 August 1633. Judith Osborn concludes: "In view of the overwehlming proponderance of evidence, we are compelled to conclude that Humphrey Pinney made his first and only passagae to New England on an unnamed ship from Weymouth, England which arrived at Dorchester, MA on or about 24 July 1633." ³


He was an original member of the Dorchester Church, moved to and settled at Windsor in 1635. His residence was on the East side of the main street, about a mile and a quarter North of the present Congregational Church on a lot North and adjoining Gov. Haynes lot, which lay between Deacon William Gaylord's lot and "Mr." Pinney's lot.

     Mary Hull was born in 1618. She married Humphrey Pinney, son of John Pinney and Johanna (?). Mary Hull was CHURCH MEMBERSHIP on 9 February 1639 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She died on 18 August 1684.
